Areas of application of the active substance azithromycin

Azithromycin is used to treat upper and lower respiratory tract infections. These include sinusitis, pharyngitis and tonsillitis as well as infections of the bronchi and pneumonia. As an infusion into the vein, it is effective in the latter even in Legionnaire’s disease. In addition, it is used for middle ear infections.

Azithromycin is not the drug of choice for tonsillitis or pharyngitis caused by streptococcal pathogens. This also applies to the preventative dose of rheumatic fever.

Azithromycin is also effective in skin infections and soft tissue infections.

In addition, azithromycin can be taken in infections of the genitals by gonorrhea or Chlamydia. As an infusion into the vein, the drug is used in inflammation of the fallopian tubes and ovaries, but also of the vas deferens, seminal vesicles, prostate gland and epididymis.

For the following uses of Azithromycin , in-depth information is available:

  • pneumonia
  • acute bronchitis
  • urinary tract infections
  • skin infections
  • tonsillitis
  • Cold, sinusitis

  • otitis media
  • chronic bronchitis

Mode of action of azithromycin

Azithromycin belongs to the active ingredient group of macrolide antibiotics. It inhibits the growth of bacteria as it blocks the protein production of the pathogens. This makes it antibacterial.

Compared to the other members of this group, it is characterized by a longer efficacy, so that it is usually sufficient to take azithromycin only for a short period of time. This effect is based on an increased accumulation of the active substance in the body.

After the first tablet I had severe diarrhea after about 2.5 hours, after a look in the leaflet and here in the forum I knew where. I immediately called my doctor, who has prescribed something else for me.

    Zithromax for Cold

3 tablets in a pack. One should be taken every three days. Already on the second day, significant improvements in terms of cold symptoms were noted. Sore throat, fever attacks, etc. went back. However, on the third day of taking a daze feeling including slowing down the reaction rate. On the evening of the same day, the first signs of skin reaction appeared, the next day with massive itching, redness over the entire trunk, occasionally on the face, arms and legs.

    Side effects: Allergic skin reaction

At the beginning of February I had Norovirus and almost at the same time a cold that was completely atypical for me, with ear and sore throat, extreme cold and pain all over my body. I lay flat. A doctor on call only prescribed something for the stomach and intestines. This is followed by a dry, unproductive cough for weeks. My family doctor could detect no lung noise, but prescribed Zithromax. the suspicion of Epstein-Barr virus also existed. 3 days I should take Z. Diarrhea I had every day, followed by a rash with violent itching attacks, terrible, but finally came to a vaginal fungus, because the normal flora of the skin had been burred by Z. completely confused. So back to the family doctor, antifungal and the promise that the itching will definitely stop soon on the body. Now after almost 3 weeks, the itching subsides, but the initially red spots are transformed into lichens, which is probably called lichenification. So I am not amused if only I had not taken the stuff. Did not have any allergies in life, even in a dermatology clinic have been fully tested.

Since I usually get problems in gynecological field with antibiotics, the ENT doctor prescribed me a drug to be taken only 3 days. He asked about allergies, but I did not know anything yet. Also from other antibiotics I get diarrhea every now and then, but it was not as watery and intense as with Zithromax. Very uncomfortable and I’m glad when the last tablet is through. The question remains whether so ever enough drug can be taken. At least the acute headaches are over, which also came on. I’ll see if I can be back on stage in two days …

    Zithromax for Flu

Have received the drug over the last few years several times. The infections disappeared, but about 1 week after use for weeks lasting chest tension, heart rhythm disturbances, tension headache, irritating cough and fungus in the area of the anus. I’m 100% convinced that the drug ultimately harms more than good!

    Side effects: Headache

    Zithromax for Bronchitis (acute)

For the second time, we have problems administering this medicine to our almost six-year-old child. He is now accessible to logical arguments and in principle willing to take the medicine. But unlike other supplements, he gets choking on this product. We tried several tricks for 2 hours. In the end, the majority ended up in their clothes. Also diluted in small portions little by little after a few milliliters. Our child says: I want to, but my body defends itself. This day has been spoiled and I will never again accept the drug as juice. Incidentally, we almost mixed the juice wrong: A thick bar and a green arrow pointing up suggest that the filling mark is here. Who does not read exactly, then has 60 instead of 15 mm suspension and a completely wrong mixing ratio.

    Side effects: Nausea

I have had only good experiences so far, Zithromax 3 he got pack (ie 1 each over 3 days) for years. After taking a noticeable improvement occurred after 1 day. Yesterday evening, for example, I lay down with purulent bronchitis and a mild fever. Today I was able to work again, coughing and general well being much better. So for me there is nothing better. Of course it works differently for each person.

    Zithromax for Sinusitis

Almost every cold I have becomes a severe sinus infection with massive pus. If I do not take fast-dissolving preparations (Sinupret or similar), I have to resort to an antibiotic. When I was prescribed Zithromax for the first time, I was thrilled. It noticeably improved after a few hours. Sometimes it worsens after 2-3 days (end of intake), but after 4-5 days I am always better. Let’s hope that the pathogens will not be resistant … Then I would not know any alternative, because other antibiotics did not help. I could not find side effects. If the reported side effects are correct (I was shocked !!!), the drug would be only limited recommended. I can recommend it without restrictions.

    Side effects: No side effects

Have received the drug for the treatment of an acute tonsillitis. Approximately 12 hours after taking it I got skin rash all over the body with a strong itching. Nausea, diarrhea and vomiting supplemented the scenario … Then the medication was immediately discontinued and it improved again ..

My daughter at the age of 4 years and 5 months got this drug from the pediatrician because of a urinary tract infection. The duration of the mediament should be 3 days. The first intake worked fine – but the second intake did not work so well – because my daughter refused the juice. From the pharmacy of my confidence, I learned – that one may refine the drug with Organgensaft. But even that did not help – my daughter did not take the medication After a few persuasive tricks – take her a little of the drug. About 30 minutes after taking it – my daughter got massive diarrhea. The pharmacy advised me to discontinue the medication immediately. If you were to give this drug to infants – the juice would have to be changed in taste. For example raspberry flavor.

    Side effects: Diarrhea

    Zithromax for Flu

After taking the second tablet insatiable diarrhea with just such vomiting, at the same time no more control over the bladder, also ran at the same time the nose. The whole thing took 12 hours. The resulting weakness continues, as does the pressure around the navel. The drug was discontinued after the 2nd pill.

    Side effects: Vomit; Diarrhea
