Fields of application of Yasmin

The drug combination of ethinylestradiol and drospirenone is used for hormonal contraception. In addition, the active ingredients can also be used to normalize cycle disorders. These include infrequent or too frequent bleeding ( dysmenorrhoea ).

The following application areas of Yasmin is available:

  • contraception
  • acne

Mode of action of Yasmin

Ethinyl estradiol and drospirenone are among the group of estrogen-progestagen combinations for contraception.

Ethinyl estradiol is related to the body’s own hormone estradiol from the estrogen group. Drospirenone is a progestin (luteal hormone) and is similar to progesterone.

The interaction of estrogens and progestins helps prepare the body for pregnancy, ovulation, and the recovery phase of a woman’s monthly cycle. This is done by distributing these hormones differently on certain cycle days.

By using the drug combination, the body is offered increased amounts of estrogens and progestins. The body is faked as a pregnancy. As a result, ovulation is inhibited and the thickening of the lining of the premature nevi, which is necessary for implantation of the egg, is avoided. This means a double protection from pregnancy. Drospirenone additionally thickens the mucus at the uterine entrance, so that sperm can penetrate worse. Through its positive influence on the development of the lining of the uterus, drospirenone can also counteract cycle disorders that are due to irregular or irregular bleeding (ie the degradation of the endometrium).

Warnings and Precautions

  • Smoking increases the risk of severe side effects of the combination.
  • Using the combination may increase the risk of thrombosis. If pain or swelling in the legs occurs, a gynecologist should be consulted immediately.
  • A forgotten intake of the combination may decrease the effectiveness.
  • Treatment with the combination may increase multiple sclerosis.
  • The use of the combination does not protect against HIV infections or other sexually transmitted diseases.

In the beginning there were no problems. Before that, I took the Belara but discontinued it because of the frequent migraine attacks and tried the Yasmin. The headaches are gone, but there are other side effects, such as Circulatory problems or mood swings. Can not really recommend it.

    Yasmin for Pain (menstruation)

I took the pill Yasmin 4 days (nights). The first three nights were quite normal (no side effects) but on the fourth night extreme nausea, stomach ache, diarrhea, vomiting and so it went for the next 7 days. But after the fourth pill had the intake interrupted … and now I often have extreme abdominal pain …: /

    Yasmin for Acne

Libido loss, exciting breasts, food cravings. Has aggravated my acne, getting pigmentation marks on my face that were getting bigger and darker. Always get migraine during the 7-day free. Excessive sweating. I do not recommend Yasmin!

After taking half a year I got severe migraines, especially in the pill break. I’ve never had that before. There was also severe hair loss. The FA contradicted me and said that could not be due to the pill. Later I became more moody and sadder. The headaches were getting worse. When now also pigment spots on the face came to it, I dropped off the pill. See, the symptoms all disappear slowly. Not recommendable !

Initially very good compatibility. Meanwhile, I have to fight with migraine, mood swings and Libido loss. Also bad – appearance of large-area pigmentation marks on the face (very sunny after sun exposure – Sunblocker does not help)!

Hello I can not recommend the Yasmin. Did she take about 3 years, and in the first half year 10 kg (!) Increased. Then after about 1 year I got severe menstrual pain (I had NEVER before) – so bad that I stayed in bed more often even at home. After some time, severe chest pain also became a part of it – so much so that my then boyfriend could not even hug me anymore, because I cried out in pain. My desire for sex was also getting lower (my girlfriend had the geiche problem) … At some point I was fed up with the pain and talked with my FA. She said I should take the pill, so do not take a break. Result: I didn’t have my days any more and thus kenie Regelschmeren, but my breasts felt like just before bursting. So I dropped Yasmin and used the Nuva ring as a replacement. Although I do not get along with him – but I have no more pain and also lost 5kg. The desire came again xD Will now take Cerazette and then turn to the 3-month injection. But my report should not put you off – with every woman the side effects are different … My best friend was hammering headache – with me abdominal and chest pain. Greetings Nene

I’m really glad that this site exists! I have been taking the pill Yasmin continuously for about 6 years .. To be honest I did not have any side effects at the beginning .. For that now all the more. Everything started a few months ago .. more and more regular pain. Now it is really a hellish pain that forces me to my knees and can not get up. It only takes a few minutes but several times a day before and during menstruation .. And in the meantime, too! Although not so strong, but it hurts .. and more often, such a pull down. Feels very strange … I never had to fight blemishes to be honest .. which has changed in the last few months too. Now every month I get some pimples punctually (still the smallest evil). Chest pains and such a draw is meanwhile in the meantime. In the last 2 months I have also gained a good 5kg. Is now not too tragic .. Only my eating habits did not change at all .. I continue to do my sport. Have my weight can always keep constant .. What disturbs me but by far the most is my loss of libido. I can cry so .. Especially since it is no longer funny for my friend. That’s so bad .. I almost have to force myself to have sex. Thought if we maybe more foreplay and do that then more happens .. but nothing, zero, nada! It just does not work. I feel absolutely no desire, no matter what I try. That puts a strain on me (and, frankly, my relationship too). And it’s kind of uncomfortable for me to talk about it. It seems so abnormal to me .. It just can understand no one. My friend could not imagine at the beginning, that it is due to the pill (because just every second woman takes the pill and I myself have taken her for years without problems). Have him now a few reviews of this site shown and slowly he can do something with it. Habs then finally managed to go to my FA and tell him about my problems. He did not want to hear that anyway .. I asked him his opinion about Gynefix .. of course absolute nonsense in his eyes! He said the only problem is that I still have my days. So he prescribed me the pill Yaz. But do not understand the meaning behind why I should suppress my menstrual period. It does not bother me at all in the sense .. Why should I take 7 days placebos? Absolutely senseless in my eyes. In the meantime, I believe that my dear Mr. FA, like most others, simply has a contract with Bayer Schering. That’s why he only prescribes these products .. I have now decided to sell the pill. Although I probably have to live with pimples and even more weight gain … all this is still better than these hormone bombs daily. If I have enough money aside, then I’ll try it with the Gynefix .. I would advice every woman from the pill! Never again hormones! lg

I used the Yasmin for about 6 years for contraception, I did not become pregnant with it. Apart from about 3kg of weight gain and a little bad skin as well as strong bitchiness shortly before the day I also tolerated it well. But a month ago, non-smoker, normal weight, athletic, I had a deep vein thrombosis in my right arm. Since I have no risk factors other than the pill, it took quite a long time to diagnose them. During the time I was walking around with a thrombosis, it could easily lead to a fatal pulmonary embolism. I can strongly advise against the Yasmin and other preparations with the drug drospirenone (Valette, Yasminelle) !!!

I took part in the study for the pill Yasmin before official introduction. Inert 8 months occurred with me often vertigo and I got a tinnitus. After a year I got a thrombosis. The doctor claimed that had no connection with Yasmin. Rotary vertigo, tinitus and thrombosis were thus not recorded in the study, in how many other women may this have happened yet? What had this to do with a serious study on the introduction whom you exclude something like that from the outset from the study ?? I then dropped Yasmin immediately despite the assertions of the doctor. The doctor to which I went afterwards could not understand that I had a thrombosis, since only 36 years old. He was still testing whether this might be genetic for me, but that was not the case. I have never had any vertigo and thrombosis since the removal of Yasmin, but the tinnitus has been preserved.

    Side effects: Thrombosis; Dizziness

My doctor recommended Yasmin because side effects such as edema should no longer occur. The reason for this was a novel substance (I even believe that it was a hormone). Unfortunately I got thromboses in the leg through the Yasmin 6 (!!!), which migrated to the lungs and caused an embolism there. I got off relatively well, at that time I was only 19 years old. However, I have already read several reports that Yasmin and Yasminelle have very often led to strokes, embolisms and thrombosis in young women. Even young women have died only by taking these drugs. I therefore advise you to inform yourself exactly! I have demonstrably no blood diseases or similar. (I do not smoke either), it was only the Yasmin!

severe pulmonary embolism after DVT; no risk factors except pill (non-smoker, BMI = 20, lots of sports) I advise everyone to think well, if it is really necessary to take hormone preparations and not to suppress this bad (often fatal) side effect.

    Side effects: Pulmonary embolism

My life with Yasmine. Like many others, I too have taken the Yasmine for four years and can only advise against any woman / girl. How it all began .. I wanted a pill that not only protects against unwanted pregnancy, but also removes my blemishes. It was really great for 2 years – my skin was finally beautiful, I had not gained a single kilogram and it seemed like I would really tolerate this pill. What Yasmine actually did with my body .. After 2 years of Yasmine I got very strong mood swings and even became depressed. On some days it was so bad that I could not stop crying, I took everything to heart – everyone in my opinion was suddenly against me and criticized me. But I could not imagine that personality change came from the pill, even though it was already a serious change from a fun-loving person to a more and more miserable pile of misery. What was more was the lack of desire for sex and the pain – I had to force myself to it and there was simply no explanation for the pain. Since my skin had deteriorated again, I decided after 3 years to go to the gynecologist and discuss with her the eventual discontinuation of the pill – which proved to be a gross error. When I told her about my intention, she wanted to stop me by arguing that if I put the pill off, it would look as dry as a postmenopausal woman because I’m going to miss estrogen. She even managed that and I naive being swallowed the Yasmin for another year before dropping it off without consultation. How I am doing now without Yasmin … I have dropped the Yasmin now for a 3/4 year and I’m really good. I have my skin through a diet change quite under control, have no menstrual pain and the desire is there again. But the most important thing for me is that I am finally balanced and not lying in my bed for days crying – I enjoy the world to the fullest and have social contacts again. Conclusion Yasmin is very expensive and has unbelievable side effects, and gynecologists often act as sellers to the pharmaceutical industry and back it up with incredible arguments. Dare and put the Yasmin down – you may be spared some of that! 🙂

Side effects: at the beginning of use of Yasmin: breast tenderness; over time, further side effects occur in both Yasmin and Yasminelle: dry mucous membranes, decreased lubrication, fibroadenomas, headache, vaginal candidosis, digestive problems (flatulence, diarrhea), dry skin fibroadenomas persisting, but appear to gradually shrink, lubrication recovered always on

After 2 years of using Yasmin and reading dozens of testimonials, I finally know where my bad mental states are coming from, for which I’ve been getting ready for months, since I do not know myself that way and at the end I was just more desperate about it goes without knowing why and without understanding it. The following symptoms have been getting worse over the past two years: depression, aggression, irritability, contentiousness, extreme moodiness, fluctuation in frustration, listlessness, hopelessness, trepidation, nervous breakdowns, hysteria, constipation, rashes on the inside of the forearm and on the thighs. Speech disorders (sometimes I confuse words, my dishwashers and say fridge – sounds funny, but it is not in the long run). Disorientation and balance problems, dizziness, circulatory collapse, nausea, Bach’s pain, disorders of taste and smell (things taste and smell different, not as usual). No sense of body, the feeling that I’m a stranger to myself and stand next to me, have no sense of and no control over my body, no control over my mental state. Vaginal dryness, pain in the GV, sexual listlessness. Negative thoughts that I can barely detect, permanent tiredness, slackness, lack of stamina. Perplexity and bewilderment about the condition, because I did not know what was wrong with me and everything was just put on stress. Although I am a little quick-tempered, but by my nature a cheerful, positive and life-affirming person who goes through life with much joy. I lost everything since Yasmin, dropped her off yesterday and hope I’ll be okay soon.

    Yasmin for Contraception

Strong loss of libido. I would never have daruaf that could come from the pill until I read the side effects. I was now with my gynecologist and asked you to tell me something else, because I also have strong mood swings and during the intake of constantly irritable and aggressive. She recommended the NuvaRing to me now. Unfortunately I read in the leaflet that it can cause the same side effects. Does anyone have any experience with this ring? I would like to return to lust and have fun with sex with my darling and if the ring prevents this, I will not even test it first!

Have been prescribed by my gynecologist the pill Yasmin. Had the first month throughout headache and a pulling and tightening in the chest but what happened after about a month. Was pretty quarrelsome and moody. At the beginning of the third pack, I got breathing problems (and very heavy breathing pains). As the pain became stronger and became unbearable I went to the hospital where thrombosis in the left leg and a bilateral pulmonary embolism were detected. Now I take Marcoumar for about 6 months and must wear a support stocking.

    Yasmin for Contraception

I’ve been taking the pill for about 14 years and the Yasmin for about 10 years. Since that time, panic attacks and depression have led to a painful separation of my then life partner. Meanwhile, I take Cipralex and it is much better but not as it should be … Anyway, I was by chance on the search for side effects of the pill Yasmin and this in turn makes me now suspect that maybe that’s why I am. I’ll take a pill break and I’ll check it out. Positive about the Yasmin is, no weight gain !!!

    Side effects: Panic attacks; Depressions
