Xalatan, the instruction for the use of which is obligatory for reading, cannot be used by everyone who has been diagnosed with high intraocular pressure. There are a number of contraindications.
- Closed-angle glaucoma.
- Children’s age (up to 1 year).
- The presence of an active form of herpetic keratitis.
Pregnancy and breastfeeding are not absolute contraindications, but it is still possible to wait with the prescription of the medicine as possible since its effect on these categories of patients has been little studied.
An important point: patients with diabetes mellitus with diabetic retinopathy should show special vigilance. Unfortunately, they have such serious complications as:
- embolism of the retina artery;
- vitreous hemorrhage.
If you wear contact lenses, drip the medicine is allowed, but beforehand the lens needs to be removed. The active substances come into contact with the lens material and spoil it. You can wear the lenses not earlier than 15 minutes when the drops dissolve under the influence of tear fluid.
