About Trazodone

active ingredient: trazodone hydrochloride;
1 tablet contains: trazodone hydrochloride 75 mg or 150 mg;

Pharmacological effect

The drug has an antidepressant (mood-improving) action, combined with anxiolytic and tranquilizing (anti-anxiety) effect. Pharmacological properties and neurochemical action of the drug differ from typical antidepressants. It does not affect the action of reserpine, weakens the central effects of phenomena and the peripheral action of noradrenaline; does not have a noticeable effect on the neuronal capture of catecholamines, but selectively blocks the seizure of serotonin.

Indications for use

Applied with different forms of depression (suppressed states / endogenous, psychotic, neurotic, somatogenic, etc.), proceeding with anxiety, tension.
Due to the good tolerability and absence of cholinolytic action, trazodone is widely used in the treatment of elderly patients with organic diseases of the central nervous system, as well as in the complex treatment of patients with somatic diseases (diseases of internal organs) complicated by mental disorders (anxiety, tension, etc.).

Mode of application

The initial dose for ingestion is 50 mg 3 times a day, then depending on the type and severity of depression to 300-500 mg per day. Therapeutic effect is usually observed in 3-7 days from the beginning of treatment.
Intravenous and intramuscular injection of 50 mg as an anxiolytic (anti-anxiety) drug for premedication (for anesthesia) before surgery.

    It all started with a hearing loss. As the hearing loss was treated so far, my upper jaw suddenly began to hurt. Besides, I could not control my eyes anymore. I was then hospitalized for 14 days in the hospital and adjusted to Gapabentin and Mirtazapine. In the beginning it helped me very well. After about 6 months, the first side effects occurred. These were especially diarrhea and vomiting. I was in bed almost every 14 days with an upset stomach and had cramps and diarrhea. We searched the internet for a better drug. As we discovered on a forum the Mediament Lyrica supposedly well tolerated. I then had the medication prescribed by my neurologist. Since then I take 150 mg Lyrica 3 times a day for about 1 year. I have not regretted the change since then I feel much better and almost no side effects.

    Trazodone for Sleep disorders; Depression

    Got Trazodone because of my sleep problems. Could not sleep through or wake up after 3-4 hours. Had started with 50mg, but only brought a sleep extension of about 1 hour. Am then up to 75mg and there came the problems. The next day was completely next to the track and foggy. It was getting better around noon. Always had food cravings. After 3 days, the crash came to the bottomless, as in the worst times of depression. Was not able to get up. Thought carousel, crying, holes in the air all day long. Could only get up with difficulty. I then dropped off and I felt better. Am now looking for another drug. Trazodon, never again.

    Trazodone for Sleep disorders; Depression

    I took Trazodone in a clinic and can only warn everyone about this medicine. I started with 100 mg as in the package leaflet (Neuraxpharm) and could hardly sleep because of a Restless Legs Syndrome after just one intake. It was not until after a week to 200 mg was increased, I could finally sleep, but I felt like tied to the bed. In addition, after a few days I had such a low libido that I felt really sexless. My testicles began to hurt and I got spontaneous erections, but the orgasms were unaffected, as well as the amount of semen was reduced about half. Also, I suffered from various sensations on the whole body. Since I only felt dizzy and poisoned anyway, I stopped the medication after only 9 days. It worked well against anxiety and depression, but at the price I ran like a zombie through the area, almost remotely controlled. Even today, even more than a month after weaning, I still have hardly any libido and numbness in the genital area. And again and again testicular pain. And that with just 24 years. To what extent it will regress, I do not know. I feel damaged.

    The drug was anxiolytic and mood-lightening after about 2 weeks. Unfortunately, as a side effect was a constant general fatigue and the very unpleasant Restless Legs syndrome, which unfortunately continues to chronic even after discontinuation of the drug in a lighter form.

    I got Tritticoo 150mg with the drug Trazodon recommended and let it arrive at a trial. Is an antidepressant but according to my doctor very weak-for example, no comparison to mirtazapine or sertraline and is primarily used for sleeping-seems to vote according to Internet research also. The pills can be nice third (seems to be provided) and sometimes made a little tired when I was in bed, but as soon as I am open or / had forgotten something and I thought only after taking it was 0 sedation. Can you see positive or negative. Habs also tried with a whole, broken the pills and swallowed the pullver-but brought nothing. The only sleep-related effect I noticed was that it greatly potentiates other sleep-inducing drugs. In combination with Seroquel it helped – but unfortunately Hangover as aftereffect. Incidentally, even if it has helped times. You can try it, yes, side effects are rather uncommon – I had actually no (neither hungry, nor dry mouth or fears …) except Hangover. What is stupid ..

    Cymbalta is the first modern AD which really helps me to look positively and to have the impulse that everyone deserves … I take Cymbalta 60mg every morning / morning After about 40-50 days with Cymbalta unfortunately, despite the positive improvement also developed an agility and resulting sleep disorders … Trazodon I take every day at 22 o’clock, and I could determine a much better quality of sleep. In addition, I feel less active during the day. Ergo, the nervous side effects of Cymbalta are alleviated and I can sleep better. With this combination I’m feeling better than ever …. I hope that the effect remains constant … I feel really comfortable, a balanced combination of two agents …

    Trazodone for Depression

    I have been prescribed Trazodone for depression / sleep disorders and take it now, with a short break, for about 3 years – it is a great drug, I would take it again anytime! At rest, as you creep in restless sleep, in some places 3-4 hours of deep restful sleep – then rested for the rest of the night. Since creeping no more problems. Am now on the dose once a day 100 mg and take it 1 hour before bedtime. I’m completely knocked out after exactly this one hour and sleep through my 7 hours. The only problem: with alcohol, this effect occurs faster … I usually sleep after 15 minutes. I had discontinued it for a short time (on the advice of the doctor): the slimming took longer. After about 6 weeks, I was able to return to normal sleep. Conclusion: a great drug!

    Trazodone for Sleep disorders

    50 mg have no Einschlafwirkung, only produce unpleasant dryness in the mouth (controlled by early ingestion). 100 mg brings sleep but with drowsiness and mild nausea. No sleep through, dry mouth, the next day slightly k.o. I have been taking Oxazepam for years and wanted to change. This remedy is incomparably better, much better main effect, almost nonexistent side effect. I have no problems other than sleeping disorders, I am 85 years old.

    Trazodone for Sleep disorders

    I have been taking trazodon for almost a year (100mg in the evenings) and I am completely satisfied with it. the lightening effect was immediately noticeable. Immediately after the first dose (starting with 25 mg) I was able to fall asleep very well, had a good night’s sleep and had no slope over the next day. Side effects were initially cardiac arrhythmia and dizziness due to low blood pressure. After about 3 weeks, these annoying side effects were gone and I am through the trazodon calmer, more balanced, less anxious and happy.

    I got it against my obsessive-compulsive disorder, which I carry around for about 8 years with me. From the beginning I had side effects that did not go away. These included dry mouth, darker voice, stuffy nose and last but not least a panic attack in which I heard things + these typical accompanying symptoms. Shortness of breath, cramping, shivering (probably more wobbly!), Panic just! I would not recommend this medicine. Against the constraints it did not help at all …

    In the first few weeks I was able to sleep better. Then very great restlessness and sleep problems, constantly stuffy nose, as the drug also has a mucosal swelling effect. Rare NW, but unfortunately very pronounced with me … Drug had to be discontinued, because it still came to me with panic attacks 🙁

    In the first few weeks I was able to sleep better. After that very big restlessness and sleep problems. But I’m still in the build-up phase to the final dose (2 tablets daily). The only thing that really bothers me is my constantly stuffy nose, because the drug also has a mucosal swelling effect. Rare NW, but unfortunately very pronounced with me … Otherwise, I am in good spirits that I feel better with the Trazodone than after 17 years of imipramine (especially it does not weigh so much …).

    Trazodone for Sleep disorders; Depression

    All in all a bit better! In stressful times, I notice especially how the drugs fight against the internal events. In quiet times, I probably would not need the meds so high doses, but if I have to do a lot for study, the sleep is also restless with medication and I wake up at night again and have a panickattack, which is not as strong as without sertraline. I take lyric against fear, agitation and panic. They work quite well, and strengthen the sertraline, which I can take due to severe sleep problems and strong inner tension bad higher doses. Trazodone … zero effective against depression, also less effective against anxiety, but very good in making you tired and a great and really noticeable effect is the improvement of sleep architecture. You sleep longer, wake up less and fall asleep faster. This combination is so ok for me, even if you can not work miracles, which I have very much wanted to achieve through medication, which is why I’ve tried pretty much every drug group. Side effects: Lyric: no Trazodone: palpable heartbeat Sertraline: nervousness, restlessness, sleep disorders, psychomotor restlessness, restless legs, increased anxiety at the beginning, increased dreams (for me, the most inappropriate drug group, but effective against Depri, anxiety and panic in one and at least no dangerous NW !!! The only plus!)

    Feel very well with this combination. Except for a few fatigue attacks during the day – no side effects. The feared and often reported weight gain was also missing. My condition before Cipralex: depression, insomnia, despair attacks and crying again and again – in all (even impossible) occasions ….. Since the day of ingestion, this tendency has completely disappeared, I’m back to everyday use. I have the sleep disorder with the Trazodon quite well under control.

    Trazodone for Drive disorders

    drivability should be added in addition to lamotrigin .. to give the day more momentum. which was also available. only the body does not work but the connection between body and head .. increased fatigue, permanent headache and to make matters worse even a weight gain of 15 kg. which has fatal consequences for my body size of 169-170 cm. Limitations of movement, increased pain in the hip joints when walking longer. This also causes respiratory problems, such as the feeling that the lung volume has decreased by 75%, ie a gasp after air .. after 3 months deducted.
