Applications of the active ingredient tamsulosin

Tamsulosin is used in the treatment of benign prostate enlargement to relieve the symptoms of a urinary drainage disorder. These symptoms include difficult and frequent nocturnal urination. If the prostate is already greatly enlarged, it can even lead to urinary incontinence.

Effect of Tamsulosin

Tamsulosin belongs to the group of the Alpha-Sympatholytika. It works specifically on the alpha-1 receptors in the genitourinary tract. Alpha-1 receptors are special binding sites of the sympathetic fibers of the autonomic nervous system, which are normally activated by the body’s own messengers adrenaline and norepinephrine. Tamsulosin displaces these endogenous messenger substances at the receptors and thus suppresses their effect.

Alpha-1 receptors are located on certain muscle cells within the tissue of the prostate gland (prostate). The prostate lies in a ring around the urethra, which leads outward from the bladder. As part of a benign prostate enlargement, the mechanical narrowing of the urethra by the greatly enlarged prostate gland occurs. In addition, there is also an increased tension of the smooth muscles in the prostate tissue, which enhances the urinary drainage disorder. This smooth muscle cell tension mediated by alpha-1 receptors is lowered by tamsulosin. The urethral narrowing is reduced, making urination much easier

Tamsulosin is very long. In addition, unlike other alpha-sympatholytic drugs, there has been no unwanted drop in blood pressure so far.

I was prescribed the drug because of unwanted nocturnal urination. I already felt weakness, dizziness and shortness of breath on the third day. Lowering blood pressure is positive. I can not recommend this medicine.

The other side effects were so mild, temporary, or diffuse that I can not assign them to exactly this drug. (Lower blood pressure, muscle pain, back pain, weakness)

For more than a year, I take terbinafine on the instructions of the dermatologist. For 14 days daily 1 tablet, then 14 days break and the game starts from the beginning. The healing is very successful, albeit time-consuming. Since 3 months I take tamsulosin for the prostate additionally. When I started with Tamsolusin I was just in the Terbinafin break, When I resumed the terbinafine, a few days later it started to burn easily at the end of the urethra. Comparable to the beginning of a urinary tract infection. It was not permanent, but always appeared only intermittently, sometimes weaker, sometimes stronger. It took Almost 3 months until I recognized the pattern and my urologist and I decided to discontinue the tamsulosin until the end of the terbinafine treatment. The burning disappeared, but after a week returned to the urologist since bladder emptying problems occurred massively. Since then I take Urorec 4mg. Since then, muscle and joint pain, as well as tiredness and listlessness. After just 3 weeks, I stopped Urorec. It was with me no improvement, but a deterioration occurred. When urinating it trickled only out of pressure. At night, I sweat so much that the bladder When I was with my wife in the theater and the like, I could not concentrate on the performance, because one always had the feeling it would dripping right in the pants. After I dropped it and took Tamsulosin again, was after 2 days the urine flow again strong and after consultation with the urologist, I stay here. Meanwhile, the treatment with terbinafine is completed. Everything ok

My 89-year-old father was given tamsulosin in the hospital (presumably to aid drainage and his fairly large prostate). Already in the hospital were severe dizziness to fainting, dizziness and incontinence problems that did not exist before. We were not informed about the prescription and the side effect of the drug and the medication was continued after discharge. my father fainted several times at home and on the way, especially when urinating, until we found out that tamsulosin has these side effects. Shortly after discontinuation of the drug occurred in my father even a strong skin rash on (shoulders, back abdomen) with cherry-sized wheals close to each other. Without urgent indication one should not take this medicine

    Tamsulosin for Dizziness

In the time of ingestion, in 2 cases I experienced a circulatory collapse on the plane and I could not identify the cause. After these flights, I visited the family doctor and had long-term ECG / blood pressure and neurological examinations carried out, whereby these were all without findings. Only through the experience reports here, I first came to the possible cause.

    Side effects: Circulatory collapse

At the beginning of treatment with nifurantin taken. Nifurantin I had to sell after about 10 days, not tolerated. Tamsulosin started after 13 days of discomfort (dizziness, the worst being unwell, sweating, sex was out of the question), 2 days off. Side effects subsided, but sweating remained and sex life was zero. After another 10 days the same complaints and abdominal cramps were added. At the moment I have to choose between side effects or urinary problems. I can not recommend this medicine.
