Effect of Sumatriptan

Like all triptans, sumatriptan narrows the blood vessels in the brain, thus reducing pain transmission. All migraine-typical complaints such as headache, blurred vision, nausea and vomiting are alleviated. The specific mechanism of action of sumatriptan also explains why the drug is ineffective in headache of other causes.

    Sumatriptan for A headache

Had a strong headache in the morning, then ate a roll and took 1 tablet with a glass of water. In the hope that it works quickly, I got ready in the bathroom and then purely in the clothes. Arrived at work (about 15 minutes after taking), I noticed circulatory problems. Once again, 15 minutes later, I got slight facial flushing, feeling hot, a strong tingling sensation in my neck and arms, and a touch in my face. Approximately 1.5 hours after ingestion, still severe headache and dizziness. Have now drunk about 1 liter of water and eaten two rolls, the tingling is after, the headache, however, remains.

I have been suffering from migraines all my life. Although taking a beta-blocker for several years, but Sumatriptan was after 40 years, the miracle cure. Before, nothing helped – aspirin, paracetamol, iboprofen, ergolonaride … the whole program. If the migraine strikes me then I take half a tablet (which is sufficient in 90% of the cases) or the other half if necessary afterwards. Unfortunately, I struggle after taking about 1-2 hours under severe nausea which then sets again. After a whole pill I have muscle pain in the neck and arms sometimes in the legs, so I’m glad if half a tablet is enough.

    Sumatriptan for A headache

Hello, Today I took Sumatripan 100 mg in tablet form for the first time. We went out for a week with hellish headaches and nausea. The whole thing is new territory for me and I was pretty helpless in this situation. Now to the intake. I took the medicine around 8:30 pm and prepared for it. I put water to the bed, a spit bucket, cold washcloths, loose clothes and enough fresh air. After taking it came very quickly to the effective entry. I was totally nervous inside and on my forehead was also sweat, after another 30 min. I was much more relaxed and a bit drunk, which was wonderful, because I finally had no pain. After approx. 60 min. I had a kind of lump in my throat and in general numbness-like feelings in the face area. It has not worked permanently yet, but I have not been able to make a precise diagnosis for my headache yet. The only one I used was my cold washcloth. I think you should be prepared to take this medication, so take care of a rest phase and not necessarily be alone during your first dose. Tomorrow I try another pill and hope to finally be pain free. I really hope for all here 🙂

    Sumatriptan for Migraine

Sumatriptan 50 mg works for me after about 1 to 2 hours, then I’m well over the day. For about a year I have quite a joint pain, muscle pain, and especially tingling and numbness in the right arm to the hand. I’m not sure if it could possibly be Sumatriptan. I have been taking Sumatriptan 8 to 10 times a month for a year.

    Sumatriptan for Migraine

I took the drug at the first signs of migraine. After about a quarter of an hour, the pain was gone. After half an hour for the first time, tightness and pain in the throat occurred. In addition, drowsiness and drowsiness, have only sounded. Driving a car or working would not have been possible anymore. In the night, after about 5 hours, palpitations, sweats, chest pain, nausea, inner agitation, dizziness, numbness and pain in the left arm occurred. My blood pressure was 170/110 mmHg and my heart rate was 168. I was about to call the ambulance. The morning after, my blood pressure was still around 130/100 mmHg. I am a nurse by profession and know me accordingly, but I really did not find these side effects funny. Although this drug has helped with the migraine pain, I would never take it again. Especially not after I read the leaflet. Heart attack, stroke … a miracle that this drug is even allowed!

    Sumatriptan for Migraine

Although I have only had migraines for 2 years, I have been prescribed the medication for the first time since about a year after I got migraine. 2 tablets of 50 g and two of 100 g, first try it. I tolerate the 50g quite well. Effect usually occurs in half an hour, then always get a little tired after taking. The first time I took the medicine and the 100 g, I had bad side effects, tachycardia, body aches, chest pain. My colleague thought I would kill her because I did not react to her anymore. Meanwhile, I know that I have to definitely eat something and drink before. Even if it is difficult, especially if a wg. the migraine is bad. But honestly I am not always enthusiastic when I have to take the pills, especially since the migraine is sometimes over three days and I do not always want to take a tablet, for fear of getting a headache. Besides, I do not know if I’m going to have other problems in the longer term (eg stomach problems). I have already tried to take magnesium daily, have received acupuncture, do some exercise (yoga, cycling). Unfortunately, this has not helped yet. Was now still at the naturopath and now go to the gynecologist (the pill). I hope it improves soon, as it is getting worse (seizures more often and longer, side effects: thirst, nausea, dizziness, fatigue, irritability, speech disorders, sensitivity to light and noise). Because what my neurologist advised me, I do not want in any case, namely, namely, the dose of sumatriptan can indeed increase even more and if they do not help, we just try others.

Extreme side effects as early as 20 minutes after ingestion: Tingling sensation and numbness all over the body, Heavily perfused face and very strong numbness of the skin on the face. The heart is racing, the entire left half of the body feels like it’s made of lead. Later, the feeling changes from left to right. Anxiety! Fortunately, the side effects were over after about 1 hour, but I will not take this drug again!

I have been suffering from migraine for 35 years and I do not know any other approved medication which is so effective against migraines. But unfortunately for the negative, because about half an hour after taking me is extremely bad and I get a slight panic and palpitations. After 1-1.5 hours I feel fine and the side effects are gone.

I was prescribed clarithromycin per mc on Monday because of my bronchitis and sinusitis. the first two days 2 times 2 tablets in the morning and in the evening.Bis on nausea and headache everything ok. this morning the third day to get migraine. Then I took a sumatriptan first. also worked very fast and was painless. only a short time later I got abdominal cramps with sweats and dizziness. Then the cramps migrated up into the upper abdomen. Then in the entire abdomen. Until now no clarithromycin was taken and I will not take it anymore. because the sumatriptan do not cause such violent complaints.

After taking it, I somehow felt strange. How fogged. Sounds strange, but I do not know how I could describe it better. Reactions become somehow slow. At least that’s what happens to me. But the most important thing for me is that the unbearable pain is gone after taking it. For me an absolute blessing.

Unfortunately, I feel the effect of this drug, as much too weak, in Comp. Iboprophen 800. Also, the duration to an effect occurs (for me an hour !!) is much too long. For the treatment of migraine attacks, it is almost useless for me, especially because it just takes too long! About the side effects, I am always slightly dizzy and violently bad. After taking it, I avoid things that I need to focus on because I do not think I could.

    Sumatriptan for Migraine

I have had migraines for 30 years. When I took the pill yet, it started exactly one week before the onset and lasted for two weeks. The rest of the month I recovered from the seizure. However, as the doctors found the pill in connection with migraine questionable, I discontinued it at the age of 34. The pain came now irregularly about 15 to 20 days in the month. Until then I had pain suppositories which put me completely paralyzed. Then suddenly there was the miracle drug Sumatriptan.Ich get the ataxes more quickly under control, but push them in principle only weiter.Aber the days of lying in the darkened room and the constant handing omitted. Preventative beta-blockers were given twice at intervals of a few years, but did not help. Life is very limited with constant migraine pain. Private problems arose, mood swings, depression. The fluktin drug really helped me in the 90’s with no side effects. But as it is very revocable as a drug, I put it off when I felt better. When I did not feel well again in 2006, I got citalopram which was supposed to increase the self-production of serotonin. They did that too. But the migraine got worse and worse and the sumatriptan tablets did not help anymore. I had constant pains without end. Very rarely a pain-free day. Erts when I felt so bad that I was no longer able to get the doctor’s prescription from the doctor and thus could not take the Citaloprampillen ceased the permanent headache abruptly. I had three months of severe withdrawal symptoms from the medication. Raging pain in the legs, tremors, agitation. I would never take it again. But since my migraine still has not improved, I started therapy with topiramate 63 days ago. After taking the first pill (25 mg in the evening), I immediately had six pain-free days. Then again six days in a row migraine. Then again six days no.So in about it remained. Initial side effects such as dizziness, nausea, shaking after taking disappeared after two weeks. However, I have speech disorders, word-finding difficulties, am incredibly forgetful, impotent, very quickly exhausted, can not concentrate and I get sick at the slightest effort and I have to sit down. Moreover, I am tired than usual, irritated and howl now only. My feelings and my perception has changed. I start to mourn things that were long forgotten, have the feeling that I am spooking, getting into something and not coming. I will sell the topiramate. The latest idea is that I have a lactose intolerance (has never come on it before) as the migraine amplifies when my diet more sum more lactose-containing foods add up. (You should definitely check, can be cause for many!) Wish me luck! oh yes, weight loss under topiramate was about 3 kilos, but now I’m really appetite again)

Sumatriptan, when taken early, works very well and also fast. With me always the same side effects occur. Cold sweat on the skin, extreme thirst, bone or muscle pain, tiredness, low resilience. Otherwise, I tolerate the drug well and do not need any drops of stomach.

    Sumatriptan for Migraine

For 26 years I have migraine, by Topamax it has become better, the tingling I have (according to the doctor) by potassium effervescent tablets daily get a handle – you must not take magnesium. Libido loss unfortunately with me, weight loss, forgetfulness and fatigue. I am thinking about dropping Topamax after 2 years, but I am afraid that the 10-12 seizures that I have during the month will rise again – I used to have them almost daily. I am ausherapiert – migraine clinic Koenigstein, migraine eating out, pain ambulance Dusseldorf, tens of acupuncture, pain therapists, oxygen, Botox therapy, etc. Important is exercise! Who can not walk, at least walking or walking! Endurance is best! Helps me – even if it was difficult in the beginning, Nordic walking.

    Sumatriptan for Migraine

I have been suffering from migraine since I was 3 (15 years old) I got this medicine from my family doctor and I’m not afraid of a migraine attack any more and I can spend everyone relaxed. I first got 100mg but I didn’t tolerate that and therefore 50mg and I do that so that I take only 50g if I do not get better after half an hour, I take a 2nd a 50mg and lie down a bit out. Then I’m getting better and better and the unbearable headache does not come at all. I am very relieved because for years I had this unbearable pain, nausea, vomiting, dizziness sensitivity and right panic and did not really enjoy my life and since the drug I can enjoy my life again.

I have taken this drug several times now, because I was at the end of my powers and was very surprised: the pain was gone within 20 minutes, no side effects, no recurrence of pain or concomitant symptoms. In just 20 minutes I have come from complete helplessness, unbearable pain and in the fight against my stomach to the complete opposite! I did not have to pay anything for this medication, not even the prescription fee (Techniker Krankenkasse) !! Totally satisfied and very relieved!!
