About Seroquel

Quetiapine is used for the treatment of psychosis, such as those associated with schizophrenia or a manic disease (mania).

What is the purpose of this ingredient?

  • Block dopamine and serotonin receptors in the central nervous system
  • Relieve symptoms of schizophrenia
  • treat psychosis
  • Relieve depression
  • Counteract anxiety and excitement.

This is how Quetiapin works

Below you will learn more about the applications and the mode of action of quetiapine.
Please also read the information on the drug group neuroleptics,
to which the active ingredient quetiapine belongs.

Areas of application of the active substance quetiapine

Quetiapine is used for the treatment of psychosis, such as those associated with schizophrenia or a manic disease (mania).

The active ingredient relieves depression, agitation and anxiety disorders. But he can not completely prevent the onset of manic or depressive phases.

Quetiapine is mostly given in the form of tablets. The dosage must be adjusted individually according to the patient’s complaints, but should always be as low as possible.

For the following application areas of Quetiapin , in-depth information is available:

  • depression
  • psychosis

Mode of action of quetiapine

Psychoactive drugs (neuroleptics) such as quetiapine exert their effect by blocking receptors for the messenger substance dopamine in the central nervous system. In this way they relieve arousal and anxiety as well as delusions.

As an atypical neuroleptic, quetiapine also occupies binding sites for the messenger serotonin. This reduces the apathy of the sick, reduces depression, improves memory and improves the ability to concentrate.

Because quetiapine in the nervous system also binds to adrenaline and norepinephrine, it sometimes causes unwanted effects such as drowsiness and low blood pressure.

I am 24 years old recently took methylphendate 10 mg over 3 weeks. The effect was right on the way I was a little more relaxed but I was just in the stomach I had cramps all day. I got it to take it but after about 3 weeks I thought that it is not worth it and put it off

I have been taking Remergil for 2 months, the dose was only 15 mg and then increased to 30 mg, because the desired effect was not shown. Then the dose was reduced to 15 mg and I got the Cipralex in the morning (first 5 mg then 10 mg). So far, I still notice no change in mood swings. And since 7 days I get the Seroquel which really helps very well against my voice hearing. Unfortunately, I have increased by the Remergil within the time of taking 11 pounds. This is very stressful for me because I’m in a depression 🙁

    Seroquel for Hallucinations

Description of the unwanted side effect: hello I take since 11 years neuroleptics in things feel good I know from experience that melperon is good (OPIOID pedigree) and quetiapine (Metadon positive in the UK) the best are I have all by 1 year stationary everything by Seroquel I had more times 2 years sometime few months Seroquel is in my opinion codein similar one feels the tobacco smoke from the whistle barely the artificial fatigue is similar but clearly from embossed and the sperm etc have the same as the codein I am not talking about the poppy but of cold remedies ! problematic! your arteries do not come out in the hand area you go with a stiff try to drain water the mouth dryness leads to dementia according to NDR due to the anticholinergic ingredients of the neuroleptic in the morning get up? I would alarm the alarm clock 2 hours earlier I am very worried that I am suffering from film I can only imagine two things underneath why it is so Photographic memory is lost (see pictures is so sick ..) or the emotional memory is a geschrenckt by The emotional blockade of the dopamine receptors (because dopamine is another word for feeling) I wonder if I should crawl the neuroleptics with doxepin or oxazepam this medekamte as far as I know have nothing to do with dopamine when weaning problems such as exaggerated frustration are afraid Quetiapine works after a day of boisterous dosis Quite unlikely norquetiapine to the benefit of quetiapine leaves you indifferent to everything casual after three weeks of withdrawal you take one it also voluntarily again because you have no desire to * through to dre hen * in purchase one does not take good feelings only on a line without height and depth I once told a responsible neuroleptics are an umbrella that bring you through rain and hail but WHAT if the sun is shining yes then you wear the umbrella anyway means you the sunbeams come through ?? if possible reduce the screen and you will notice the sunbeams come through more but with a thin screen hut in front of the storm .. so in kind greetings your simon alex Posted on 4/25/2017 as Record 77169 Edit record

    Seroquel for Dissociative disturbance

At the beginning I took Seroquel prolong 100 mg in the evening. I was very slowed down. Was only tired. I felt like someone put the handbrake on me. That did not get much better with only 50 mg. Now I take 50 mg of Seroquel without this prolong. Also in the evening. My tiredness and listlessness is not that strong anymore.

Seroquel for Dissociative disturbance; Mood swings; Borderline; Sleep disorders; Depression

Seroquel 100mg help very well with my sleep disorders. Unfortunately, this tired-making side effect makes it impossible to take Seroquel over the day against mood swings and over-stimulation. Thank Heaven Seroquel Prolong is now. It works great and I have no side effects. Even less appetite I got. You take it for the night and you are fit the next day and yet it acts like a filter and has a mood-balancing effect. I’ve had many types of neuroleptics and many, many side effects. Especially I suffered from the feeling of being restless and immured and depressed. I do not have it all with Seroquel. I sleep like a baby from the normal Seroquel and am symptom-relieved during the day by the Seroquel Prolong 250mg. Unfortunately it is so unbelievably expensive …. How should psychiatrists do their patients justice when the better-effective drugs with fewer side-effects go beyond the budget ?!

    Seroquel for Dissociative disturbance

Take Seroquel (200 mg) since a hospital stay last year, while still taking Seroquel prolong (500mg), Sertraline (150mg) and Lyrica (500mg) for various indoor personalities. In the beginning I felt especially the nausea and took off first (8 kg), but then followed the cravings and strong weight gain (about 20 kg). Now at least I stop the unrestrained Seroquel and especially feel the nausea very strong, can hardly eat or drink anything, even water is difficult. However, I have to say that the drug worked very well with me, I was calmer and in combination with the other medis were also the fears and panic attacks down significantly. But I would still not recommend it mainly because of the weight gain and I’m glad if I withdrew it.

    Seroquel for Pain (acute)

With me there are no side effects, I take the drug only at night to be able to sleep, because at night I am plagued by particularly aggressive leg cramps. I am not mentally ill! It was prescribed to me to rest at night. Unfortunately, I was labeled as mentally ill, so I fight for almost 2 years in vain for a rehab.

    Seroquel for Social phobia; Depression

My mood has improved a bit at the beginning, although it was unclear whether it was due to the drug. After (longer) intake of 2-3 months, however, no positive effect was felt, neither on the depression nor on the social phobia, so I had to discontinue the drug again. My dose was 100mg in the morning retard and in the evening 100mg to sleep, which worked very well by the drug. In combination with other medications, restless legs syndrome frequently occurred.

Seroquel for Drive disorders; Mood swings; Bipolar disorder; Depression

I also voted against my Bipolar Affective Disorder Manic Depressive Disease called these two medications together with my doctor after several years of searching in vain for the right medication. At the beginning, every fortnight I wavered between low mood and unnoticed hypomania. When I did not pay much attention to it and continued to work 60-70 hours a week and in the meantime gave birth to 2 children, it became so bad that I took the eighth train of the emotions on the same day at least once , Today I know why I got this disease as a gift. Back in my teens, when I had very severe acne, my doctor prescribed me a drug called Roaccutan as a last resort, which allegedly drove at least 9 people into suicide. I was lucky enough to be able to control my suicidal thoughts and have myself admitted to open psychiatry. There I was prescribed lithium first. Then they experimented with different drugs from Trevilor to Zeldox or Atypical Neuroleptics like Sulpiride in small doses. But whenever the medications had helped for a few days, the effect simply stopped after certain times. And especially the hypomania was gone but the shit …… Depris were always there and I could not be happy anymore and always had something like a stone in the pit of my stomach. Until I found the combination myself with my doctor. The Seroquel helps me to protect myself in both directions. It helps me more against the exhausting hypo or partial mania. But it does not help enough against depression. That’s why I tried fluoxetine, and lo and behold, both drugs in combination have totally changed my life. When my doctor returned from the congress he said that for bipolar people it is the best combination right now to take these two medicines. At the beginning I had the lithium in addition to the seroquel and fluoxetine. I have asked my doctor to omit the exhausting lithium. He agreed and it came as it had to come. I became so manic that I became aggressive and turned on some people totally and turned off completely. When I was in the open two weeks, I was the seroquel increased by 50% and reduced the driving fluoxetine to a single dose. Since this hospitalization I have now the dose in the morning 100mg Seroquel and 20mg Fluoxetine. In the evening I take now 400mg Seroquel and that’s it. Since then, I feel something of normal as years no longer. I have no big weight gain from the Seroquel and then only between 2 and 4 kilograms. I was always tired and broken at the beginning with the treatment of Seroquel and did not get out of bed. This has changed with the dose increase. I can think clearer again and I can remember things again. So exactly the opposite what others are reporting here about the Seroquel. I have had the best experience with Seroquel and Fluoxetine. And if I have Parkinson’s in 20 years I do not care. Because then at least I was allowed to experience my good years in a normal and joyful way. I wish you all that it may be the same with you as with me. It took me almost 5 years to find the right medication.

Seroquel for Hallucinations; Psychological instability; Sleep disorders

Since the beginning of the year, I’ve had some terrible sleep problems for the first time in my life. Sleep was still, but did not fall asleep. Physically totally exhausted, on the verge of fainting – in the head but then so active, constant musings, auditory hallucinations, thinking thinking thinking without wanting it, despair, because you can not fall asleep. So I was prescribed at the beginning of Seroquel 25 mg, of which I should first take half a half, very low dose so (the tablets can be divided but really bad, since no scored). First side effects immediately after swallowing: Swelling of the mucous membranes (angioedema). Had the feeling that the pill is still in the throat, I thought I’m too stupid to swallow. The same thing the next night … In addition, it has not really worked and the next morning my blood pressure was so down (otherwise normal NEN to slightly increased), first took forever to get out of bed, another 2 hours to clear again to be able to think and have the feeling of being among the living. Should expose because of the angioedema first Seroquel, because it can be life-threatening … Got something else (Risperidion), I took the Easter holidays I think, did not help me, have only gained 2-3 kg, not even 20 tablets. So I dropped it off automatically and resorted to the Seroquel again, with some respect for the pills, of course … (This time 25 mg) The first 3 days still angioedema, but then it was less and after a week was nothing at all. The blood pressure in the morning was often down anyway. But it started to work, was quickly tired at the beginning, or just a little dazed and sedated, have seen blurry and so, weak muscle, until sometime just tired (from 30 minutes starts sometimes even when it runs well). So again was great, no matter how much I have thought or pondered, then I fell asleep at some point. After consultation with the doctor so further income. By now I am at 50 mg. In between, I tried to remove the Seroquel, when everything around me was a little calmer and less stressful … It really started backfiring, I could not sleep at all, thought it might be a certain placebo effect, maybe it is, but me rather call for withdrawal symptoms. I felt as if I had also read something in the packaging leaflet about a so-called ‘shock’ or something similar, which occurs when the medication stops abruptly (after all, withdrawal symptoms?). So could not sleep at all, was partly awake for up to 3 hours, until I finally resorted to medication. Have tried it also with homeopathic things, everything does not work for me … I regularly check my blood levels, if everything is right, if the tablets do not do anything else stupid in my body, so far everything was okay. I just hope that there will be no later serious consequences. So I’m not that excited about Quetiapin, but at least I can fall asleep with it, I did my high school diploma 🙂 and I do not think so, haha!

    Seroquel for Depression

My son (15 years old) has been getting Seroquel (150-0-300) for 4 weeks. He is more likely to report dizziness, leg cramps, and the physician has found that the number of white blood cells has fallen sharply. Soon there will be another blood test.

    Seroquel for Psychosis

I was 3 years on clozapine because of a severe psychosis. Generally good effect – I just could not shock or throw off track. For working people rather not suitable. Anyway, I had a hard time working. (tired, lethargic – just wanted my rest) Then came Abilify because I had bad blood levels. At first the bright madness (positive meant :-)) – fit, concentrated and totally self-confident. Just awesome – then I could not sleep at night anymore. Thought that will be back. Well that was 10 weeks like this: then unfortunately a new boost. (Stay awake at night and keep brooding) Now I’ve got Seroquel. Right now I’m fine: fit and in good shape during the day (Abilify) – At night I sleep like an angel (Seroquel prolong). Hope it stays that way now! Best regards

Seroquel for Perceptual disorders; Borderline; Psychosis

At the beginning, when I started with 25 mg, I did not have any side effects, but starting with 150 mg myocardial tachycardia started. I lay in bed and could not fall asleep suddenly I noticed my pulse all over my body. Of course, I immediately took a sister who then also measured my heart rate and blood pressure and my heart rate, although I was already half an hour quietly in bed, was at 170 and my blood pressure was also greatly increased. I then immediately got a pulse and blood pressure lowering agent. That made me feel better too. This was then every evening so now I take 600 mg and from now on also Prolong. Until now, these side effects have not gotten better I hope by the prolong because without the drug, I can not manage my everyday life and everything else …
