About Seroquel

Quetiapine is used for the treatment of psychosis, such as those associated with schizophrenia or a manic disease (mania).

What is the purpose of this ingredient?

  • Block dopamine and serotonin receptors in the central nervous system
  • Relieve symptoms of schizophrenia
  • treat psychosis
  • Relieve depression
  • Counteract anxiety and excitement.

This is how Quetiapin works

Below you will learn more about the applications and the mode of action of quetiapine.
Please also read the information on the drug group neuroleptics,
to which the active ingredient quetiapine belongs.

Areas of application of the active substance quetiapine

Quetiapine is used for the treatment of psychosis, such as those associated with schizophrenia or a manic disease (mania).

The active ingredient relieves depression, agitation and anxiety disorders. But he can not completely prevent the onset of manic or depressive phases.

Quetiapine is mostly given in the form of tablets. The dosage must be adjusted individually according to the patient’s complaints, but should always be as low as possible.

For the following application areas of Quetiapin , in-depth information is available:

  • depression
  • psychosis

Mode of action of quetiapine

Psychoactive drugs (neuroleptics) such as quetiapine exert their effect by blocking receptors for the messenger substance dopamine in the central nervous system. In this way they relieve arousal and anxiety as well as delusions.

As an atypical neuroleptic, quetiapine also occupies binding sites for the messenger serotonin. This reduces the apathy of the sick, reduces depression, improves memory and improves the ability to concentrate.

Because quetiapine in the nervous system also binds to adrenaline and norepinephrine, it sometimes causes unwanted effects such as drowsiness and low blood pressure.

100mg lack of drive, listlessness, strong musing Now if possible, this drug should not be long prescribed it leads to a dependency A trauma should be done anyway only with a Phychotherapie weden load you do not persuade you have Hallos leads to a vicious circle of then again in the Phychatry lands and there again a thought manipulation stadtfindet know the game enough I can give this verbal Eindrichterung simply no more grays. For that reason, I do not like phychatry any more. In my opinion, these are just for mental manipulation that ends up in social isolation. And let the vicious circle begin again. It deserves only the Phychater at it not the patient since it is the Bewust before you on Medikamte einläst because it is clear Neuroleptika are in the first regard expensive and let the purse ordenlich fill the more he the Verscheibt and the Medinisch with the diagnosis proves it The more it starts, the more it starts to start a re-episode. Since that’s very clear.

Since my son consumed alcohol (he knew it was dangerous, but he had an addiction problem), the whole thing was doomed to him. Despite the knowledge of his addiction problems and that these were not yet resolved, the doctors of the withdrawal clinic gave him this drug (a whole box!) At his premature release! This is a very irresponsible act !!! My son died at the end of March 2006 as a result of the alcohol interaction. He was my only child!

    Seroquel for Overweight

I take now for about .4 to 5 months 200mg Seroque in the morning and 400mg before going to bed. And have since gained 10kg. I also take 150mg Trittico in the evening and 50mg Treslen in the Füh. Since I’ve gained so much from the Seroquel, I wanted to ask if there is anything else that has the same effect but does not cause weight gain. I suffer from this increase mentally and dare only to wear wide clothes. And swimming is a catastrophe for me and my friend. I had a very good figure before and as soon as I see somebody in the swimming pool who has my former figure, I start crying and immediately get dressed because I feel so uncomfortable in mine Skin feels, yes I am ashamed for the stomach and my thighs. I do sports and eat almost nothing anymore but I just admit, I want to stop it and find another medicine. Please help me, I’m so desperate !!!

    Seroquel for Unrest

I have a schizoaffective psychosis, I am depressed, manic and psychotic. All at the same time. These conditions are muted by the many medications, they are not quite gone. To get this constant back and forth better, I have been prescribed Prolong. But sometimes my conditions are stronger than Prolong, and then it does not help anymore. I’m either too tired, too restless or too depressed. I wanted more balance with myself. Prolong does not do that. I have few side effects. Better to say, I gained 8 KG. Not bad with me.

Unfortunately, I have been greatly increased by Seroquel. This, however, in combination with a significant hypofunction of the thyroid.I also take other medications, Trevilor, L-thyroxine, Melperon and Lyrica.Unfortunately, this is not otherwise feasible. Under the Medikamet Seroquel in combination with the other drugs, I feel really great. Sleep better, hardly any fears, good mood usw..Ich can recommend it quiet conscience. Only a few side effects are constant colds and dysphagia, but I like to accept. Sometimes it annoys, but on the whole, I get along well with it.

    Seroquel for Delusion

I took this medication for an evening instead of 300 mg, 1500 mg because I was in very bad shape. However, it did not get to me. I was very tired the next day, had a bad headache and talked very weird and then had to go to my doctor as an emergency. Hours later I felt better again. If you need to take this medicine, then only the prescribed dose.

    Seroquel for Perceptual disorders

Hello dear suffering enjoyed in and comrades. No, I do not come from the former GDR, which would have to give me the chosen word jargon. I am a strong guy, in his mid-thirties, who has been taking the neuroleptic Seroquel for 10 years now. The concomitants are manifold. I previously weighed 85 kg at 1.90. Now the Seroquel and I have arrived at 115 kg in our 10 year old friendship, a good 30 kg more. This increase in weight manifests itself in a water and tissue fluid accumulation on the bellies. So I am visually pregnant and one assumes that I will overdo it with the evening beer. Furthermore, you should do some sports. That this with the sport is not so easy to implement, probably due to the inertia that prepares me the Quetiapin. Therefore, losing weight will probably remain a pious wish. Now to the other side effects briefly summarized: Sleep requirement of at least 10 hours, no more libido available, an erection is very difficult to get, partial loss of the previously existing self-confidence in this regard! Occasional tipping, in the form of amnesia and short unconsciousness during the day, but only for a fraction of a second, driving a feeling like being on a train, emotionally dying, difficulty remembering names and things. Why I still hold on to Seroquel I can tell you: My obsessive thoughts are gone, I can stand alone, I have no more casino and waste addiction, I am more positive towards people and I see women no longer as moaning sex object, but as People who are emotionally close to me and take me as I am. I think that Seruquel has saved my life and that by using this remedy in combination with Opipramol and Cipralex I no longer see life as a threat and the daily routine as terror, but finally find time and leisure, the really important beautiful things of life to have met. Love mentally distressed, there is nothing in life, especially not with neuroleptics and antidepressants. This medication can improve your life, but only if you can deal with the side effects as a necessary evil and get a positive attitude towards those.
