This is how Mesalazine works

Below you will learn more about the fields of application and the mode of action of mesalazine.

Application of the active substance mesalazine

Mesalazine is used in inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. The aim of the treatment is to heal the inflammation and alleviate the symptoms it causes: pain and diarrhea.

Melsalazine can be given either by taking it in the form of tablets or by introducing it into the intestine in the form of suppositories, rectal foam or clysters.

More detailed information is available on the following Mesalazin application areas:

  • chronic inflammatory bowel disease

Mode of action of mesalazine

Patients with inflammatory bowel disease suffer from severe abdominal pain and diarrhea. Typically, the disorders are not uniform. There are periods of intense inflammatory activity and severe discomfort with interim periods in which patients are almost symptom free. In the affected persons strongly increased concentrations of endogenous inflammation-promoting substances such as prostaglandins, leukotrienes and interleukins are to be found in the intestinal mucous membranes.

Like all active substances from the group of aminosalicylates, mesalazine blocks the production of these inflammatory mediators and thus has an anti-inflammatory effect. With the drug, the symptoms can be combated in an acute phase of the disease, but it can also prevent relapses in seizure-free time.

Because mesalazine is not absorbed into the rest of the body, it only works locally in the gut and has few side effects.

Side effects? Lustless otherwise not noticed. But unfortunately I still get relapses about every 8-9 weeks for 3-14 days. I should take then 3×2 tablets but that remains without effect. Salfak with ibuprofen 800 is better

Salofalk for Irritable bowel syndrome; Hurt

I’ve got Mebeverin because of my irritable bowel with massive diarrhea. Helped immediately, the diarrhea was much better. However, almost immediately I got massive circulatory problems, which caused me to become unconscious twice. The Medikamtent then had to sell again. Also with Salofalk I was not much better. Although I was not unconscious of it, but also here I had such massive circulatory problems that I had to sell it again. Have now got Mutaflor and Yomogi. Both contracts I am relatively good, but they could only alleviate the diarrhea, not fix, the abdominal pain are still there

    Salofalk for Intestinal inflammation

I was discharged with a bowel inflammation in the clinic after a week got into the clinic already 2 times a day 1.5g Salofalk granules I was told on 15.8. should I stop taking the granules. On 2.8.13 I came home so it all seemed ok again but on 8/8/13 I got diarrhea thought ok what was wrong eaten trying to bring the diarrhea away with toast and wholemeal product but nothing helped so I’m on 12.8. The Doc gave me yeast pills that brought nothing after a week diarrhea, I am back to the doctor who said her intestinal inflammation is cured diarrhea must come from somewhere else. He relied on the laboratory values of Darmspieglung of 2.8. who was already 2 weeks old and gave me antibiotics why when the inflammation is gone ?? I took the 3-piece pill within 3 days on 2 days I had to go to the bathroom from 12 o’clock at night to 12 o’clock noon 16 times I changed the doctor went to a doctor who said they took the granules again asked what the blood levels showed I said the doc took me no blood was taken from me blood and it was found that I had a bad bowel inflammation. I then had to double the granules as two times daily 3g granules. That was on a Tuesday and from Friday to Saturday I was able to sleep for the first time for a long time by sounding the diarrhea after nearly 6 weeks now. Now I have to continue to take the granules I taste the food again the stool was normal and side effects I have not found any to date. Due to the diarrhea, I took over 4 kilos off what led to a gout attack Diclo or Voltaren I must not take because of the intestine so only cool was announced. Then I also got renal colic and could get rid of 3 stones on a natural way. When the acute gout attack subsided, I got Allopurinol 300mg a day. Now I am on the way to recovery.

    Salofalk for Morbus crohn

Since 2003, my husband has been taking Salofalk for Crohn’s disease and unfortunately we have noticed that his white blood cells have been steadily decreasing. In 2003 he had 10,000, in July 2009 = 1,300. After a bone marrow puncture, it was found that almost no white blood cells were produced there. For 3 days now he no longer takes Salofalk and his blood cells increased to 1,700. We have hope again, because almost he would be averse to the side effects of this drug!

    Salofalk for Ulcerative colitis

Salofalk Clysmen helped very well – the application was of course less beautiful! According to the doctor, however, not suitable as a long-term therapy. Salofalk tablets have caused blood value changes (pancreas), therefore, deposition. Mutaflor did not help me. Has only caused Bauchgrummeln and flatulence. At Budenofalk I found no improvement – even under treatment of renewed thrust. Therefore, deposition. I still take Decortin one more time. But I started with 40mg. First quick recovery. Now I have to take Decortin for a week, then the therapy is over. The complaints are getting more and more every day.

    Salofalk for Morbus crohn

For 5 years diagnosed Crohn, almost throughout with treatment by Budenofalk, Salofalk, Azathioprin in normal amounts. Temporary treatment with cortisone in usual amounts, never for more than 3 months. In case of cortisone relatively strong side effects: full moon face, euphoria, maybe depression, maybe / relatively sure stunting, stretch marks, blood count changes, dizziness, headache. Very good effect and therefore also recommended. Side effects, except for stretch marks, largely corrected, currently no intake. Azathioprine to maintain the remission phase. Relatively good effect, even if thrusts were never completely prevented (which is hardly possible). Hardly any side effects observed in me: changes in the blood picture (only slightly), increased risk of infection (relative), nausea (only in the beginning). Side effects currently largely eliminated. Salofalk to maintain the remission phase: very good effect, but not a miracle cure. Virtually no side effects: nausea (initially). Side effect resolved. I can recommend as there are virtually no side effects. Budenofalk to maintain the remission phase: very good effect, but again no miracle cure. Side effects similar to those in cortisone, but in a significantly attenuated form.

    Salofalk for Morbus crohn

Hello I have Crohn’s disease, four years is the diagnosis firmly. Because I am very overweight, there were problems with the dosage of the drugs, because most have not been explored in such high doses as required. Therefore, I had with less At the time I was pregnant with my first child, the second pregnancy followed 3 months after childbirth. That was the second problem with the Medis.Cortison I once more times less My highest was 150 mg in the KH, the lowest was 5 mg.Super drug, helps very fast-but has a damn lot of side effects.Athrosis in fingers and ankles, extreme weight gain (today I weigh 143kg), moon face, hair loss, buffalo cheeks, insomnia .And my body is now cortisone dependent come to this day not away and not currently under 60mg. Azathioprin did not work at all only side effects hair loss get worse. Salofalk I take from the beginning 6 * 2 300mg-to the effect I can not say anything notice nothing, but can not say what side effects on the account. Budenoifalk I have taken 3 months. First was super hit, until the next big push came and cortisone was set back to 100mg. MCP Tröpf my super middle against cramping and nausea-can not describe any side effects. Now I get MTX 15mg for the second time. Side-effects until now headache, nausea, loss of appetite (which is not that bad in my case – before eating nothing without satiety feeling hungry, nice feeling). Since this medicine is only short I can not yet name any other side effects.
