About Ritalin

The drug methylphenidate is used in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, which is referred to as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children over the age of six years.

What is the purpose of this ingredient?

  • Attention Deficit Disorder in children with ADHD
  • Treat obsessive sleep problems in adults

This is how Methylphenidate works

Below you will learn more about the fields of application and the mode of action of methylphenidate.

to which the active ingredient methylphenidate belongs.

Application of the active substance methylphenidate

The drug methylphenidate is used in attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, which is referred to as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) in children over the age of six years.

The attention-deficit and hyperactivity disorder manifests itself through lack of concentration and impulsivity with marked overactivity and accompanying symptoms such as increased irritability, ill-humor or aggressiveness, depression and forgetfulness.

ADHD does not cure and persists in approximately 60 percent of those affected into adulthood. Adults with ADHD mainly show restlessness, impatience and inattention. Overactivity may decrease with age due to adaptation, development of the nervous system, and treatment with over-the-counter medications. Often there is an inability to social bonds. Today ADHD is also treated with methyphenidate in adults.

According to recent research, the cause of ADHD is disrupted signaling in the brain. Since ADHD is a very complex disease characterized by very different symptoms, treatment with methylphenidate can only ever be a therapeutic component within a so-called multimodal treatment plan consisting of several building blocks or ways. With careful dosing by the doctor, however, the administration of methylphenidate has a very decisive positive influence on the main symptoms of the disease. The active ingredient reduces inattention and distractibility as well as impulsivity and hyperactivity.

A second indication of methylphenidate is narcolepsy in adults. This is a disturbance of the sleep-wake rhythm, which is expressed by excessive daytime sleepiness with sudden onset of sleep. The sleep attacks of narcolepsy, sometimes triggered by extreme stress, have nothing to do with lethargy and therefore can not be resolved with a lot of sleep. In addition to the main symptom of the disease other malfunctions such as excitation caused by occurring short-term loss of muscle tension (cataplexy), daydreams (hypnagogic hallucinations), sleep paralysis and disorders of nighttime sleep.

Also, the causes of narcolepsy are not well known. However, it is believed that disruption of the part of the brain responsible for sleep / wake control is responsible for the onset of the disease. Narcolepsy is still not curable. The daytime fatigue can be mitigated by methylphenidate, while cataplexy and sleep paralysis with tricyclic antidepressants and also the disturbed nighttime sleep must be treated separately.

Mode of action of methylphenidate

Methylphenidate belongs to the group of alpha sympathomimetics with stimulating effects on the brain.

The drug reduces distractibility in attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD). How exactly this happens is not yet finally understood. There are no fewer than four different explanatory approaches. The neurotransmitters norepinephrine and dopamine, which provide for concentration and categorization of information in the brain, may play a role. Among other things, methylphenidate could prevent too fast uptake of the messenger substances and thus ensure that there is no lack of norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain. As a result, the brain could better perceive its control functions.

Observable effects of methylphenidate include decreased motor hyperactivity (“Zappelphilipp syndrome”) and decreasing impulsivity in children with ADHD. Due to the improved impulse control tasks can be completed better and the aggressiveness can be mitigated.

It has been proven that methylphenidate increases the activity of a part of the unconscious nervous system, the sympathetic nervous system. This increases the heart rate, the pumping power of the heart and the blood pressure as well as the circulation of the musculature improve. The stimulating effect of methylphenidate on the brain increases the ability to concentrate, the willingness to perform and the willingness to take decisions

Our child became a depressive and anxious child with ritalin, who was very cheerful and alert before taking it. Now our child in adolescent psychiatry thanks to this miracle drug, does not want to know how much money doctors get from the pharmaceutical industry, thanks to the huge increase in ADD or ADHD sick children who desperately need Ritalin. Unscrupulous business thinking destroys the childhood of our children by prescribing and recommending such drugs with active ingredients that resemble curing drugs.

    Ritalin for Adh syndrome

The drug actually works wonderfully for me. For the first time in my life, I can stay at work on a daily basis and with perseverance and with great pleasure. finally i was able to bring order to my previously chaotic household. In my way of thinking, it also does a great deal. It is as if a thick curtain were pushed further away on a daily basis. I recognize things that I did not even know before. I can z.b. finally also read instructions for use and UNDERSTANDING 🙂 etc. BUT, now I come to the SIDE EFFECTS: it started with a big mouth dryness, which became so strong that I could barely speak. luckily, after a while, this side effect disappeared almost completely. but when the doctor changed me over to the ritalin retard, the theater started all over again. then he switched to concerta, which made it even worse. Now I got to the dry mouth also an unbearable tongue burning, from which then a burn in the mouth of the mouth. as soon as I discontinued the drug, the symptoms disappeared within one day almost completely, after two days they were gone, but unfortunately also the positive reactions of ritalin 🙁 on my request I returned to the ritalin 10th since then I had over Longer time these side effects less frequently and rarely to a great extent, but at the moment it is just unbearable bad, pain until you drop, in addition also aphten and other painful pimples in the mouth and pharyngeal area and I have virtually no sense of taste in his mouth 🙁 and yet, the ritalin give up – never! it gives me as much quality of life as I never had my life day.moreover, I have, as a nice side effect, already 16 kg weight loss, although the appetite is always good, but I do not need anything more in between 🙂 best regards, sonja

    Ritalin for Adh syndrome

To start, one should mention that I got Ritalin at the age of 12, up to the age of 17. As it is in ADHD children, I did not really like the intake. The idea of having to take a tablet during school hours, answering the curious questions of classmates What is it? Why are you taking this? I was a greul. Thus it happened some / several times that I fooled my parents to have taken the tablet during school time. Dosage was initially 3x 1 tablet. Later, the dosage would be set to 2×2 +1 in the evening. The side effect or side effects (as far as I can remember) – First, there is the constant lack of appetite. (No but absolutely no feeling of hunger) – Insomnia (During the duration of Ritalin it is extremely difficult for me to come to rest at all) – Do not care about mood – Dry mouth. Drinking, however, has been difficult. – tachycardia Positive effects – persistent concentration on a certain thing to the end – mindset was different, somehow clearer – calm balance: If I had to take a balance over this time until today, I would say that taking Ritalin especially in children no only alternative is. Accompanying measures such as conversation therapies or sports are appropriate in any case. I am now 31 years old and must confess, I curse the little boy who threw the pills in the toilet during school hours, instead of taking them regularly. On the other hand, I admire him, because Ritalin is and remains a drug. A stimulant which is unconsciously used by many parents to calm their children. In retrospect, you might have to mention that it is easy for me to slip into the rail of PArtydrogen by taking Ritalin and the associated effects, In my twenties (21-24). Exctasy or amphetamines in general, had an almost identical effect on me as taking Ritalin in my childhood. Maybe with a little more side effects, but the focus and calm returned at that time. It is also extremely easy in time, e.g. to throw my household, to concentrate on my work and much more.

    Ritalin for Depression; Adh syndrome

At the beginning of taking 75 mg, I was very restless, feeling driven and had difficulty sleeping and mild constipation. During the first week of the 150 mg regimen, I developed a leaden fatigue, restlessness, irritability and severe headache, an emotional blunting. So far, constipation and headaches have remained, but these are improving. No weight gain! After over 30 years, the generalized fear has blown away and I am more resilient and attentive. In addition, even the smallest things that used to drive me out of my skin can now only shock me little or not at all. In my opinion, a really good drug, because of which benefits I like to accept the side effects. It should only creep slowly, first 75 mg and then go to 150 mg after a few weeks, if necessary. The side effects then endure for a few days, it’s worth it. In any case, Trevilor is the only one that has worked well with me, unlike cipramil and fluctin.

have made very good experience with the drug methylphenidate (chloride), even if the side effects have been expressed very strong (especially Concerta) for me is particularly easy to use at Concerta since it only needs to take morning, not like the paradox a person with bad concentration and high forgetfulness all about 4 hours to set a time at which it should take the tablets against forgetfulness;)

    Side effects: No side effects

    Ritalin for Adh syndrome

In the beginning, nausea, dizziness and sexual aversion. The sexual aversion gave way after about 2 weeks, then came orgasm difficulties. Currently the orgasm works reasonably well, but there are now massive problems standing. Sexual intercourse is therefore not possible. But now found out how it works immediately. Just did not take a day, no withdrawal symptoms and the sex worked fine on the day in the evening again. You could live with that. Just skip the day and return to normal one day later. Still existing side effects: – Sleep disturbances – Heavy sweating – Low hunger, therefore weight loss of 7 kg in the 6 weeks Will Trevilor resume. Although it seems to work well, however, the side effects disturb me. I can not allow myself to sweat profusely. The Ritalin only works for a period of 3-4 hours. In addition one suspects that it works also with depressions. So I like that better, especially since I need it anyway. When the depressive moods go away, everything is fine. That’s why I’ll try Ritalin alone. In any case, I’m always in a good mood after taking it. Since I have only been taking Trevilor for 6 weeks, I will try to sell it without knocking off abruptly. I hope it blows. If you rummage through the following forum, one is already afraid and anxiety
