Effect of Ramipril

Ramipril belongs to the drug group of ACE inhibitors. The substance is given in a non-active form and must first be converted into the active form of ramiprilat in the body. Such agents are called prodrugs.

Once converted into ramiprilat, the drug inhibits the production of the body’s blood pressure-boosting hormone angiotensin. In addition, Ramipril promotes the excretion of water and salts from the body, which reduces the blood volume and thereby pressure from the vessels. In addition, Ramipril inhibits the breakdown of bradikinin, an endogenous substance that relaxes the blood vessels. All of these effects together produce a significant reduction in blood pressure.

Ramipril only needs to be taken once a day. Its effect lasts about 48 hours. However, it does not start until one or two hours after taking it.

The active substance is predominantly excreted via the kidney. Therefore, the attending physician should reduce the dose in patients with severe renal impairment and urinary output.

Ramipril for Cough; High blood pressure

Moin, moin during a hospital stay (pneumonia was suspected) I collapsed several times on the ward, where a blood pressure of 200/120 was detected. After the visit of my family doctor this phenomenon (I usually always had about 150/100) reappeared, he prescribed me Ramipril 5. From the beginning, only a 1/4 tablet, now 1/2 tablet, taken in the morning. The irritating cough occurs especially in warmer rooms and in the evening. As side effects I would like to describe so far: already slightly dizziness at kl. Efforts like shopping go; one has the feeling of being slowed down a bit; The feeling of constantly swollen sinuses and the ear canals (it does not crack when swallowing), I can describe. Against the irritating cough I take Paracodin N drops (Only in the evening). Everything is fine so far. My blood pressure is lt. Wrist meter z.Zt. at 130/85, the family doctor measures 150/100. Will continue to report, especially if it should come to Errektionsstörungen … Gruss, Georg

Have taken 2.5 mg in the morning before breakfast lt. Family doctor, to lower blood pressure (slightly increased). On the second day I got severe chest pain (chest tightness when inhaling) and headache. My family doctor says he has never heard of such side effects. After about 10 days, the feeling began to feel like my neck was tightening up. Swelling in the neck area, feeling of pressure in the ears. Have the drug discontinued 2 days ago but the side effects are still present.

    Ramipril for High blood pressure

from the beginning around the clock strong coughing fits, so I hardly come to rest at night. During the day I am as if turned by the mill: hardly powerful, without drive and really just always wants to lie. Always have a lump in my throat, so I have to clear my throat without pause. This is especially bad if i drink a glass of water, then the neck is taped and I keep clearing my throat for up to 20 minutes at a time. This often gives me the feeling that the whole neck is raw like the bronchi. I asked the cardiologist for the cause, which said that it has nothing to do with the drug. Only a pharmacist told me on the head that the cause of the problem is Ramipril. I will address my cardiologist again and ask for a change of the drug.

On prescription of the doctors, after I got 2 stents, I take Ramipril 5 mg halved, d. H. 2.5 mg daily, morning, with clopidogrel 75 mg (against thrombosis). Furthermore – at noon aspirin, 100 mg and in the evening Simovastine 20 mg (cholesterol-lowering). *** Well – after 1-2 months, more and more changes in my voice occur, combined with a certain amount of neck. The voice becomes dull and high – especially when I’m in a colder air – like with flu or throat infection. If I stay in the room for several hours, my normal voice comes back. The neck doctor found no inflammation, but said that the vocal cords do not close completely and referred to the side effect of ramipril.

    Side effects: Neck tight

The blood pressure went down. Due to the very diverse side effects, I finally stop taking it. At the beginning of treatment, it started with: itching, runny nose, arrhythmia / or tripping. Meanwhile, the focus of the side effects in massive sweats and significant weight gain, both not worker / and employer-friendly. This time I insist on a change of medication.

Ramipril for Heart failure; High blood pressure

Who has the same side effects from ramipril (2.5mg) I am 45 years, 172 cm tall and weigh 72 kg, BMI 24, athletic (daily 60 min cycling or walking) In April of this year I had to go to a hospital, because of my spine , When ECG I was asked if I had ever had a heart attack, which I said no. The next day I was given a heart catheter and attested that I did not have an infarct, but …. Please read the result in the attachment. Then I was treated by the family doctor with metoprolol and ramipril and had pretty much all the side effects that are in the leaflet. Metoprolol was replaced by Nebilet in July. Since then, the side effects are lower, but it has adjusted to a daily irregular heart pressure and a heart piercing around the heart. The main pain is about four fingers above the left nipple, a stabbing pain that lasts about ten minutes and gradually fades away. Sometimes it also starts at the top of the heart and stops after 360 degrees. It means that the pain will march around the heart once within several hours, once it is more of a pressure, the next moment is a sting. Since my last visit to the cardiologist, to whom I have again told everything in detail, I should now additionally take morning and evening 1 PENTALONG tablet. Five months ago, I did not have anything yet and now I swallow six tablets daily. Is that the last word of wisdom? Where does that come from? Is it dangerous? Is it the medication? Are there any alternatives to my medications that will fix the problem? Unfortunately, since I have to take the medication, I do not feel well at all and do not dare to burden myself with cycling like I did before, because I’m afraid that I’m trying too hard and I suffer a heart collapse.

    Side effects: Heart ache

After a heart attack, the drugs Simvastatin, Ramipril and ASA were prescribed. I took these drugs 4 years. First of all, fatigue and exhaustion became noticeable. In the further course, a gastric ulcer was added, that according to the doctor was due to acetylsalicylic acid (in ASA). Treated with Omep, the ulcer could be eliminated. As further side effects spasms in the fingers and toes were noticeable. Likewise, after prolonged use of the drugs, erectile dysfunction became noticeable. When I got an itchy rash on my arms and legs a few weeks ago, I stopped taking the medication. After that, I noticed that the prolonged fatigue and fatigue no longer existed and spasms no longer occurred. In the case of erectile dysfunction, only minimal improvement is noticeable at the moment, but it is present. To what extent this condition will improve in the course of the next few months, I can not say at the present time yet. Conclusion: Which of the drugs in detail for the side effects is responsible I can not say because I also feel little desire to test each one individually.

Unfortunately, in the 7th week started an itchy rash and dry throat cough. The rash got worse and worse and the cough got worse every week. After 4 months now, my doctor stopped treatment with ramipril and I am now trying another medicine. Let’s see what side effects are there.
