Side effects in the treatment of benign prostate hypertension
Common Side Effects:
Impotence, temporarily decreased libido, decreased amount of seminal fluid.
Occasional side effects:
Rash, ejaculation disorders, breast tenderness, breast enlargement
isolated side effects:
abnormal secretions from the chest, breast knots.
Side effects of unknown frequency:
palpitations, itching, hives, hypersensitivity reactions (facial swelling, lip swelling), increased liver function, testicular pain, erectile dysfunction, deterioration in sperm quality, infertility, depression, sustained decreased libido.
Side effects in the treatment of hair loss
Uncommon side effects:
decreased libido, depressed mood, erectile dysfunction, ejaculation dysfunction (including decreased seminal fluid).
Hypersensitivity reactions (including rash, itching, hives and swelling of lips and face), palpitations, increased liver function, breast tenderness and enlargement, testicular pain, infertility.
There may be an increased incidence of breast cancer in men due to treatment with finasteride. Patients should therefore discuss any breast changes they detect immediately with their attending physician.
