    Mirena for Menorrhagia

Have read the reviews with interest, because I got the Mirena after 5 years and 5 months now. It was recommended and used at the time because I had such heavy bleeding that tampons and bandages did not help anymore. The onset was extremely painful, I had to lie in the office an hour later, because I was not able to drive a car. Had not expected this, just wanted to use the hormone spiral just before work. I’m not squeamish, but that was really hard. Had then about 1 month spotting and also about 6 months the period (but much weaker than before insertion). Then gain weight, 4 kg, inexplicable, because same habits when eating and moving. Mood swings followed, in addition to cysts that disintegrated of their own accord. I NEVER had any before the spiral. After about 3 years Mirena (I was fully satisfied, no period and the cysts did not scare me further) increased mood swings as in the burnout onset. After 4 years starting cervix cancer, Pap 4, conization. Mirena was removed for surgery and reinstated directly (the same, 4-year-old Mirena). December 5, 2011, the 5 years were over, but the FA said I should still carry them, because still hormones would be delivered and then I’m through the menopause. Strange, since I am 51 and I find that very early. Then in January 2012 total collapse, depression, suicidal thoughts, GAR NOTHING got more regulated and was written sick for the first time in life more than 3 weeks. Could not open a post, make any transfers, just sat there like an old woman and looked in front of me. That was not me anymore. No idea if it all related to the Mirena, but I would like to share this experience. Fought very hard and clenched my teeth, made a therapy, it works again. But I do not know where it all came from. I had the Mirena removed last week and since then spotting. Hope very much that they stop soon and that I am really through the menopause and get no more period. The spiral had the advantage that I did not get it. Otherwise, I very much hope that there are not other, long-term side effects. Amazing is, however, that with me several doctors have repeatedly claimed that everything could NOT be related to the Mirena. Maybe but ????????

Mirena for Mood swings; Cyst formation; Hurt; A headache; Pain (acute)

Hi Guys! I can not believe what I read here !!! Today Google I breast tenders Mirena and then I come across this page. Thought it was not the hormone spiral. Just as my gynecologist has told me that the Mirena is not responsible for breast tenderness and certainly not for mood swings and slight irritability. Now I understand. I have the Mirena 4 years ago and 10 Montaten use and my gynecologist has called me no side effect. Sure, at 22, it always sounds good if you do not have to think about contraception for 5 years and you will not get any menstruation! And that the Mirena acts locally and does not pump the whole body full of hormones. Calculated on the years, the Mirena is also cheaper, she told me. Why should I ask synonymous because of side effects if it all sounds so great! Since I was young and stupid I must confess honestly. The insertion was not so painful. She has given me a remedy that widens and stuns the uterus. So it was just unpleasant pulling. Have spotting every month and often take 5 to 7 days. During the annual examinations she often told me: So it is very rare that the women who wear the Mirena regularly have menstruations or spotting. (Nice for the majority of these women) In the ultrasound, she also often found a cyst on the ovaries, but 90% of them disappear by themselves. So the cause of abdominal pain found. Never had cysts before !!! Then she prescribed a gel for breast tenderness. She could have smeared that in her hair, too. From month to month, the pain in the breasts is more and more and they are hot, hard and riiiiiesig and there are nodules to feel. My friend already asked me why they are so riiiiiesig? He is rarely allowed to touch them because they are very sensitive. I would only be interested in how much profit per Mirena jumps out at the doctors. Because of my impure skin, I was also the dermatologist and prescribed me again anoint, detergent, etc. for treatment and he said it was the conversion of the contraceptive. Well, this is almost 5 years ago and it is still the sameSo if I count the drugs for the impure skin and the gels for the breast breakdown together, then I have saved myself in contrast to the pill at all! On the contrary!! I’m glad if I get pulled in 2 months and I’m curious how life feels afterwards! 😉 Greetings Dani

    Mirena for Cycle disorder; Bleeding

Have now been 6 months, the Mirena. So far every day lubricating bleeding. Cramping, nausea, dizziness, breast tenderness, night sweats and extreme fatigue. This was followed by a 4 cm cyst and three months’ intake of chlormadinone 2mg fem. This made it better. Now I have a bacterial infection with an antibiotic and then with lactofem to help restore ph in the vagina. Against the spotting I take parallel desogestrel first for a month. What can I say. If it does not get better now, I’ll let the spiral go.

    Mirena for Overweight

Hello, I have on the recommendation of gynecologist, because I had so unbearable pain and extremely strong and sometimes 8-9 days lasting menstrual bleeding, which can be used Mirena. Was always a rather sporty always well-tempered person, have kept for years without any effort my normal weight of about 58-61 kg fabulous, if I had eaten a-two days less, I immediately lost a kilo. since Mirena- mood swings headache (I had never before) and now almost 75 kg although I eat neither more nor different than before and my movement has remained the same. My FA said it would rather come from the age ago – this is normal if the body is slowly moving to the menopause (ha ha – I’m 42 :-() for some time, I get also malignant spotting – spasms in the abdomen …. My decision has now been made after reading your experiences – IMMEDIATELY WITH THE THING! I will tell you what changes afterwards.

    Mirena for Pain (menstruation)

The absence of the rule – although desired – was initially getting used to. In the first two weeks slight spotting as announced. After that, only very, very light but regular cycle had. Everything is wonderful. Cycle-related regular monthly migraine was thus 90% away. For me a very good decision, especially since I want to reliably prevent. Since contraception is a very delicate, far-reaching topic, the here described numerous hardly attributable to the low locally effective hormone dose symptoms suggest that certainly the psyche could play a role … no offense

    Side effects: Spotting

After recommendation by two gynecologists, I decided after two pregnancies mainly because of my ever-strong monthly bleeding for the prevention with the Mirena Hormone Spiral. Although I have initially bothered somewhat because of known side effects, but I finally decided very consciously and with a positive attitude to it. I’m definitely nobody who inhales leaflets in his details and looking for side effects – in which case I have informed myself about the fundamental risks and lifted the note. What can I say? – After initial enthusiasm because of the painless laying and the significantly reduced monthly bleeding I could have written the leaflet myself! After I kept getting worse and worse, after almost a year I studied it more closely. I had gained eight kilos, was extremely fickle than otherwise balanced character and went up with every little thing like a bomb (great with two toddlers !!!), probably through the water retention in the legs I had extreme joint pain in the feet, on the chin and Thick black hair suddenly grew around my mouth, I had permanently swollen and aching lymph nodes under my armpits while my bra size grew from D to F, the allegedly only spotting became permanent and my generally poor condition ultimately caused a loss of my libido not only with me, but also with my husband. When I finally got abscesses in the genital area (passed harmless) and on the temple (had to be treated with antibiotics and made for the swelling of all lymph nodes around the ear region), it was enough for me completely. (Incidentally: The lymph node swelling under the armpits, I have all clarified – had no other, even malignant cause.) So I decided after less than a year to let the Mirena again. For six weeks, I’m now rid of the spiral. But after the drag, the fun went on: After two weeks, I suffered a fall bleeding, so I did not come for two hours from the toilet and at the end in the emergency room. Although the bleeding passed after a few hours, but I was now advised because of the strong bleeding tendency to let the womb lining. After our family planning is definitely over, I let that happen. Everything went well and I wonder why I did not decide it right away. And otherwise? Woman will ask: I did not have to wait the average indicated time of about the duration of the spiral until the side effects subsided. By now I’m three and a half kilos off without a diet, my old bras fit almost again, lymph node swelling are gone, joint pain much better, no more abscesses, the mental fluctuations are gone and most importantly: I can with my dwarves again without risk of Rage also look forward to chaos. My husband is relieved too. If the whole thing digested first and the abstemious time after surgery is over, that will be back with the libido 🙂 Well – and the black hair on the mouth part I stop and hope for their disappearance. CONCLUSION: The Mirena may be well tolerated in other women, definitely not with me. I would have gladly spared the 350 euros and the associated martyrdom! Oh yes: the hormone release is by no means as low as stated by the manufacturer and NATURALLY the hormones go into the bloodstream and not only act locally! This has now been scientifically proven. It is a scandal that both the manufacturer and most doctors do not acknowledge and admit that !!!

Hello, I let the Mirena use me 2 months ago, because my fa has recommended this to me as well. The onset was already very painful and the first week after insertion I had severe abdominal pain. Over this I had more than one month spotting and for about one month strong depressive episodes without direct trigger. Strong future fears and concentration difficulties are currently my constant companion … When I was with my Fa, that’s why she dismissed that as not coherent and even wanted to prescribe me a pill to do it … Besides, I now had two mushrooms within a month …. Thank you for the many testimonials !! I will let the spiral pull next week and then comment here again if it improves.

I had the third Mirena spiral inserted in June 2010, as it was recommended to me by my doctor so. The onset was bearable, a little stomachache, little spotting. After a few weeks I was physically so bad that I googled my complaints. I came across this forum and I got a light on. So decided to the doctor with the desire to remove the spiral again. With my request, I fell on deaf ears, the Mirena was well tolerated, my complaints came from private stress and my physical work. The doctor talked me into the spiral (cost so much, I would have a bad conscience to you.) But if I really wanted it then I should come back. Okay, I thought, hasty decisions may not be good. By now it has become March 2011 and my various complaints have not improved. I count on what bothers me, what I feel worst first: Constant tiredness and listlessness (every activity is a torment, I have to get myself up to everything), constant exhaustion, almost every day tension or pain in the chest (lately with pain up to under the armpits), mild nausea, loss of libido, often headache, a dripping nose all year round (allergy tests were negative), pain in the groin with pulling up to the legs (heavy legs), numb hands, dry skin. Yesterday I was back at the doctor and I have the Mirena removed, she tried not even to persuade me again. By the way, everywhere you will find in this practice Mirena advertising, In the waiting room various brochures, in the hall, in the treatment room. A rogue of evil thinks …. Now I’m curious how I’m going in the next few weeks, I hope the veil of fatigue and pain is lifting!

I had the spiral inserted for the first time 5 years ago. I was really happy with the first, even though the onset was catastrophic (very, very painful, I had circulatory problems for 2 days afterwards!). I did not have any bleeding, no complaints, no problems, no pain from then on. Like in a picture book! Now, in January, the change was due, and since I was so satisfied, I decided to let me set a second. This one was not painful, I was pretty surprised … Unfortunately, I’ve had spotting, backache, discomfort, and the feeling of being able to feel the return threads ever since … Especially after the GV, the feeling is quite strange. I find that extremely funny, because I tolerated the first one so well! I would not recommend them, just because of the fact that this is REALLY very painful. And that the money is spent for nothing, the thing should fall out or not be tolerated. I’m going to hold on for a while now, but should the bleeding stop, I’ll go back to my FA and see what he means …. I’m not going to take any hormones to stop the bleeding …. That can not at all healthy!

After a good 1 year I let me remove the Mirena again. In the first 6 months there was no problem. Simply gorgeous, no period except 1-2 days very little spotting. Unfortunately, over time, more and more symptoms developed that got worse and worse. These included: breast tenderness, pimples, flatulence, weight gain, worst migraine attacks, nausea, dizziness, circulatory problems, itching all over the body, tingling throughout the body, rapid heartbeat to the worst panic attacks with dread. I did not know these symptoms before in this form and strength. I did not get much help from the doctors. It just said you’re getting into menopause. So I started to look around myself and came across the page. 3 months ago I had the Mirena removed. In the meantime, I have no more of the o.g. Symptoms. I have come to the conclusion that my symptoms are due to the synthetically produced gestagen in the Mirena. It seems that some women with a variety of side effects respond to it. Others are not.

The laying of the spiral was very painful! I almost fainted. At first, it was great to stop bleeding. There were spotting, abdominal pain, fluid retention in the uterus, vaginal dryness, libido, extreme irritability and mood swings. This in turn led to conflicts in the partnership. I felt more and more like robbing me of the best years of my life! Constantly wearing a panty liner for fear of not being able to hold the water. I felt like 80! Creeping more and more things came to it; Anxiety, headache, depression !!! The bad thing is, I’ve thought for years, it’s up to me, although I did not know myself like that! Also I never got a leaflet to face. Now this thing has been out for a year and those miserable conditions are gone! Thank goodness Libido is back, but there is a year of hard partnership work behind me! Girls, listen to your body and do not let the doctors persuade you that everything is OK! Is not it! And depression is not funny!

After an annual check, I left after nine! Years to let my HS. The onset was uncomfortable but tolerable, after a few days of spotting I had no menstruation for nine years, which I found very convenient. Weight gain, thyroid problems, and hypertension had not been linked to Mirena by either the doctor or myself. I was told, no side effects, they release hormones only in the uterus and therefore no leaflet I got to read. Last year I got violent heart rhythm disorders, after all the specialists did not notice anything (neurologist, internist, radiologist, nephrologist) I went to the gynecologist because I wanted to make a hormone test and asked again if a connection was known with HR disorders and Mirena. I got a no and the proposal to use a new Mirena soon. After I was in intensive care three times because I was out of sinus rhythm, I got a very strong heart drug (dronedarone). I became more and more tired, could not sleep at night, every time I lay down on the couch in the evening my heart began to play crazy again. At the end of May I had my first TIA, the second after a week at the stroke station and hardly at home again to the intensive care unit wg HR disorders. It was NOTHING noticed again, slowly I started to believe myself that I’m standing next to me, I was scared, had night Hororvorstellungen that I no longer experience how my son will grow up, could no longer do my job in the office, no concerts , no events, no holidays and the constant fear that the next TIA will not go off so well and I suffer permanent damage (the speech disorders, word finding disorders, numbness in my hands disappeared again). Then I had a seven-hour ablation performed on the heart, then I was not allowed to move for 30 hours and was once again intensive. My husband spent all the time at my bedside, had no more holidays, my son has and was constantly afraid to lose the mom ….. After three months of trying to discontinue this strong heart medication, the discomfort was still and the next TIA did not wait long. My condition was a disaster at the time due to the now taking Phenprocoumon (blood thinner) and I began to doubt more than ever before, meanwhile everyone talked to me maybe it would be up to me and I should not be so cramped! By chance I found a forum where several injured wrote down their complaints, it was just like me!! Immediately I let me pull this thing was not bad, not even grown as my gynecologist thought. After three days, I was able to sleep through the first night without nightmares, no more panic attacks and an incredible relief. No doctor has been able or willing to see a connection, but the many reports that I have read in the meantime from women with similar complaints allow for different conclusions.

negative side effects: – after use heavy bleeding about 2 weeks, later for half a year lubricating bleeding – beginning after about 3 weeks after onset blemishes on the stomach, strong itchy big pimples – disappeared after a few weeks – sometimes itching all over – Pain in the chest – made me transfer to mammography, because I thought I have something serious – severe anxiety, bad dreams – to the point of dread – panic attacks – terrible moodiness – purulent strange taste in the mouth, which came and went – severe pain in the right Area after about 1 year steadily getting worse – especially around the entry point – in urine sometimes severe pain, thought constantly I had a urinary tract infection – paralysis especially on the right side – got migraine – became much worse during Mirena time – less pleasure positive side effects : – Menstrual bleeding was very mild AFTER REMOVAL the Mirena: – immediate improvement of the right-sided pain – it turned out that the thread had wrapped somewhere – no more anxiety, no panic – in a better mood – all negative side effects were gone sooner or later I think that every woman this spiral different good or bad tolerates … I did not tolerate it unfortunately although I saw the type of contraception for very practical, but the side effects were then too much laborious. I was constantly afraid that these apparitions would remain.

12 weeks after the birth of my third child, I let the spiral set. This is now almost 3 months ago and I have constantly spotting, in addition to a very strange body odor and now an unpleasant vaginal odor. I am moody, sometimes almost depressed and have a constant headache, all the problems I’ve never had before! I’ve already taken degrees from what I’ve lost, although I eat the same as before. Tired, flabby and beaten, I am constantly, which is not due to my children. They all sleep well and I actually sleep too. A few hours after taking a shower I have a totally greasy hairline again. It is to despair!

NEVER AGAIN MIRENA !!! at least for me … After almost 1 year I would like to report about my experiences with the Mirena. In August 2006, I let her lie down. After initial pain (about 3 days), I was fine for some time. In the meantime I am without Mirena again. I do not want to advise anyone about Mirena. There are women who are very satisfied with the Mirena. But there also seems to be women who are not. My person included. Although the doctors claim that the Mirena can not be the reason for a variety of symptoms, I am quite different opinion. I think, no matter what dosage, it’s just an intervention in the hormone balance. And a foreign body to it. Not every organism reacts the same. And honestly, if the Mirena can do something positive, then why not negative? Here is my story. I am 45 years old and have no children. Actually, I never wanted to use a spiral again. At a young age, I once had the copper spiral, which I removed after 1 year due to severe abdominal pain. But after all my thoughts and information and advice from my gynecologist, I decided that the Mirena was the best solution for me and I would have had 5 years rest. As I said, I was fine for a while. My period continued as usual regularly between 27-31 days. However, only as spotting and unfortunately initially up to 11 days. Over time, however, this reduced to the absence of the period. I thought super … That’s why I paid no attention to the first symptoms. They came so gradually, at first still weak. Incidentally, I already knew her more or less from my years with pill and thought, ok that’s how it is … My first symptoms I got so in October 2006. Breast tenderness (I could regulate with Mastodynon reasonably) and occasionally a few pimples (with I otherwise had no problems at all). For the first time in November I had really howling attacks. That made me think. There was no apparent reason, however. I am a very happy and joyful person. A friend said that could be the first signs of menopause. Well, with 45 of course that would be possible. Well, over time, the breast tenderness became more and more extreme and even with Mastodynon no longer under control. Pimples on the back, neck, face, décolleté and upper arms tightened. There was also increased itching all over the body, tingling and numbness on the right thigh. Blurred vision. I also needed a body size more. Unfortunately, I also found that I had gained 4 kg by now. I found that strange, in such a short time and without any change in my eating, – sport, – and habits. In the middle of June it really started. I got extreme migraine attacks, nausea, dizziness, tingling in the whole body, rapid heartbeat, to the worst panic attacks with dread. For no apparent reason and mostly at night. I was completely checked through (blood counts, ECG, EEG, head ultrasound, MRI, blood pressure). Everything great. I should prepare myself that these would be the menopause … and that I should visit a psychotherapist. Also, my new gynecologist said that these are beginning menopause and had nothing to do with the Mirena. But you can not rule it out. Interestingly, I found that he was very quickly ready to remove the Mirena again. What he did then immediately. Incidentally, compared to the onset, no pain. Well, I tried it with high-dose valerian, Bach Flower Rescue and homeopathy (Coffea + Aconitum) … the extreme tachycardia at night was probably the worst … no improvement. Then only diazepam helped, although I am totally against such tranquilizers. But you can not sleep all night, nobody can afford it. After all, I also had to stay productive in my job. Well, I have read many reports from other women with similar symptoms in connection with the Mirena on the Internet. In addition, I am very busy with homeopathy, meta-medicine, alternative methods and more recently with hormones. In retrospect, I can say that I know most of the described symptoms in one form or another in a weaker form over the past 25 years. But I could live with it. Times when I did not take hormones were symptom free. But I have never associated this with the hormones throughout the years … especially since migraine and skin problems are also present in our family. And I have always relied completely on the statements of the doctors. They always certified me best health and that was probably psychosomatic or the PMS. On 26

I have the Mirena only since 4 weeks but I hope that I get some encouragement here that everything is better !!! The insertion I did not feel as bad, abdominal pain, I had only the first two days. My skin became very impure about 4-5 days after the onset and I got some pimples on my face and I had severe hair loss. Headaches are almost on the agenda and I’m irritated. Sexual aversion and constant spotting are very troubling. But I do not want to give up after all the fun has cost 320 €. I think that the body must first get used to the hormone change and hope for speedy recovery.

I let myself use the spiral 3 years ago, the gynecologist said she was better than any pill. After the onset of long lasting bleeding. After about 2 years, only once a year ne small spotting bleeding. But after 2.5 years, the abdominal pain was more, the Ärtzin always meant everything ok. The abdominal pain was always present except for a few days. Unfortunately, too. After almost 3 years, I was often sweaty at night, awake and got panic from the tachycardia. I was afraid to die, that’s how it happened. Everything is ok with the cardiologist. The tachycardia was getting worse and the panic attacks, anxiety became more, it dragged on for months, fatigue and irritability are the order of the day one is only weak and one is dizzy (CT in order) blood levels ok thyroid ok and the weight gain despite Eating under observation is inexplicable. Now it has been found out, it is the Mirena side effects that have now occurred. The spiral comes out now. My side effects in one sentence: palpitations & amp; Rhytmus Disorder (L-ECG), Dizziness, Fatigue, Irritated, Lower Abdomen & amp; Chest pain, weight gain, anxiety & amp; Panic attacks, sweating (circulatory problems)
