How Telmisartan Works

Telmisartan belongs to the group of AT1 receptor antagonists. Like all drugs in this group, telmisartan displaces the most potent endocrine disruptor, angiotensin II, from its AT1 receptor binding site. As a result, the blood vessels expand, the blood pressure drops.

In addition, according to new studies, telmisartan also seems to activate special receptors of fat cells in the body. The excitement of these receptors controls the conversion of carbohydrates to fat and increases the sensitivity of fat cells to insulin. Many hypertensive patients also suffer from disorders of blood lipid and blood sugar regulation (the so-called metabolic syndrome). For these patients, telmisartan has the advantage of lowering the sugar and insulin concentrations as well as the triglyceride concentration in the blood, while increasing the level of vascular protective HDL cholesterol.

Telmisartan is generally very well tolerated. Its antihypertensive effect lasts about 24 hours after ingestion. It is almost completely broken down by the liver. In long-term therapy, telmisartan reaches its maximum effect after six to eight weeks.

    Micardis for High blood pressure

I feel very restricted since taking Micardis. Suffer from severe flatulence, abdominal pain, sweat very much, suffer from dizziness more often in the morning, constantly have a dry nasal mucous membrane, which often starts to bleed. Furthermore, I can not sleep properly for about 14 days at night, very often awake and can not calm down. Due to the resulting lack of sleep, I feel pretty bad. In addition, for no apparent reason I have gained a weight gain of 2.5 kg, without having changed anything in the diet. I still have a lot of blood pressure.

After approx. 6-8 weeks of intake, strong lasting muscle pain arose after sports activities. After several months of discontinuation of the drug and complete decrease in symptoms, the symptoms set after further use after four weeks of use again. After repeated discontinuation of the drug, no further muscle problems occur. Even after strong sports activities, I remain painless.

    Side effects: Muscle aches
