The active substance is an erectile dysfunction remedy and belongs to the group of phosphodiesterase inhibitors.
Sildenafil blocks the enzyme phosphodiesterase-5 and allows blood to enter the penile cavernosum and cause an erection. The starting dose recommended is 25 milligrams sildenafil. The maximum dose is 100 milligrams of the active substance, which may be used at most once a day.
