Areas of application of the active substance doxazosin

Doxazosin is used in the treatment of benign prostate enlargement to relieve the symptoms of urinary drainage disorder. These symptoms include difficult and frequent nocturnal urination. If the prostate is already greatly enlarged, it can even lead to urinary incontinence.

Doxazosin is also used to reduce blood pressure in high blood pressure and to normalize blood pressure over time.

For the following application areas of Doxazosin , in-depth information is available:

  • benign prostate enlargement

Action of Doxazosin

Doxazosin belongs to the group of alpha-sympatholytic drugs. It works specifically on the Alpha-1 receptors. Alpha-1 receptors are special binding sites of the sympathetic fibers of the autonomic nervous system, which are normally activated by the body’s own messengers adrenaline and norepinephrine. Doxazosin displaces these endogenous messenger substances at the receptors and thus suppresses their effect.

Alpha-1 receptors are located, for example, on certain muscle cells within the prostate tissue. The prostate lies in a ring around the urethra, which leads outward from the bladder. As part of a benign prostate enlargement, the mechanical narrowing of the urethra by the greatly enlarged prostate gland occurs. In addition, there is also an increased tension of the smooth muscles in the prostate tissue, which further enhances the urinary drainage disorder. This smooth muscle cell tension mediated by alpha-1 receptors is lowered by doxazosin. The urethral narrowing is reduced, making urination much easier.

At alpha-1 receptors in arteries and veins, doxazosin causes dilation of these vessels. With dilated vessels and thus larger vessel diameter, the blood from the heart must be pumped through the vessels with less pressure. As a result, the blood pressure drops.

    Doxazosin for High blood pressure

    1. Standing dizziness 2. Severe dizziness (almost fainting), as a result of feeling anxious High blood pressure rise (220 syst.) 3. Water accumulation in the ankles. 4. Muscle pain in the area of the neck muscles (such as tendonitis) 5. Beginning pain in the joints. All this with a daily dose of 1/2 tabl. Doxazosin-CT 4mg. Intake about 23 o’clock. In my opinion these tablets should only be taken by permanently bedridden patients if absolutely necessary. These are not the only blood pressure tablets that have these side effects (my kind has been trying for a whole year as my blood pressure returns to reasonable levels). In my opinion, all medications with these side effects should be phased out.

    Side effects: Water storages; Dizziness

    Doxazosin for High blood pressure

My grandfather used the drug for years for hypertension. As has now been determined by several doctors independently, it is responsible for his DEMENTIA !!! And by the way also for dizziness, water retention in the ankles, shortness of breath, sleep disturbances, itching and rashes as well as gout. It helped against the high blood pressure, but now dementia kills him! The doctor should be locked up and also feed it day after day, so that it ends as my grandfather and in the pants! A few years ago, my grandfather was fit as a sneaker and has been mountaineering several times a week. And now he is a pile of misery. I hope the doctor gets what he deserves, as well as all the pharmaceutical criminals. I want to warn everyone here! Take anything else in the world, such as Isoptin. But just not this poison. And I only gave that one lousy point because I had to give a rating on all points, but I would give 0.0 points if that were possible!

    Doxazosin for High blood pressure

After 12 antihypertensive drugs in one and a half years so far the most effective! In addition to my Blopress everything went to the potency, 12 mg Doxazosin had more of a positive effect on it. Only the hustler and shortness of breath that has occurred since the beginning of taking it makes me drop it off again. Too bad.

    Doxazosin for High blood pressure

I am a blood pressure patient, my doctor prescribed 4 different antihypertensives. Ingestion takes place in the morning, in the evening and at night. In addition to exhaustion, reluctance and coughing no other side effects. It bothers me but the question, it must be 4 antihypertensive? Fear that other organs will be affected. Info would be glad.

    Side effects: To cough
