Application of the active substance rosuvastatin

The active substance is intended for the treatment of adults, adolescents and children from the age of ten years with lipid metabolism disorders. Rosuvastatin is also used for excess cholesterol inherited from both the father and the mother. The use is in addition to a diet and other measures such as blood washing (LDL apheresis) or alone, if such measures are not suitable.

The administration of the active substance can prevent cardiovascular damage (heart attack, stroke) if there is a high risk and if other risk factors are alleviated or eliminated.

  • dyslipidemia

Mode of action of rosuvastatin

Rosuvastatin belongs to the drug group of statins. Like all members of this group, rosuvastatin selectively inhibits the enzyme HMG-CoA reductase. HMG-CoA reductase is significantly involved in the body’s production of a precursor of cholesterol.

The main site of action of rosuvastatin is the liver. Rosuvastatin increases in their cells the number of binding sites (receptors) for the harmful LDL blood lipid. This will speed up the uptake and degradation of LDL and hamper the production of the even more dangerous lipid form VLDL in the liver.

Overall, there is a significantly lower formation of blood lipid types LDL and VLDL, which are mainly responsible for the blockage of blood vessels. In return, there is a preponderance of beneficial HDL blood lipids that can even remove fatty deposits from the vessels.

An initial effect occurs within one week of the initiation of therapy and reaches 90 percent of the maximum in two weeks. After four weeks, the highest possible effect has been achieved and will remain after that.

    Crestor for Pain (acute)

I have good blood levels since taking Crestor. Only my muscle aches bothered me. Especially when I’m sitting, I’m in pain when I want to go (pending pain). Then I made myself on the Internet and talked to my doctor about it and now I take 1x a day Q10. The pain is gone and I can continue on Crestor.

    Crestor for Cholesterol value increase

After three months taking 1 tablet to 10 mg in the evening, my cholesterol levels have completely normalized: halving the bad cholesterol and a significant increase in good cholesterol. The only downside: I suffer from muscle pain in the calves and at times nocturnal leg cramps (which is classified by the attending physician as side effects of Crestor). So far, the side effects are tolerable, but should the pain get worse, I am forced to change the drug.

Side effects: Muscle cramps; Muscle aches
