Effect of Clomiphene

Clomifene belongs to the group of antiestrogens. It prevents the binding of estrogens to the corresponding binding sites in the pituitary gland (pituitary gland). In this way, the pituitary gland is faked a lack of sex hormones. In response, the pituitary gland releases more follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) and luteinizing hormone (LH). FSH and LH pass through the blood to the ovaries. The ovaries are thereby stimulated, in turn, to produce more estrogens to counteract the feigned deficiency. At the same time, FSH causes increased growth of the ovarian follicles and oocyte maturation, while LH causes ovulation in the presence of a mature oily vein. In this way, treatment with Clomiphene leads to an increased maturation of oocytes and to the promotion of ovulation.

However, a disadvantage is that Clomifen thickened the cervical mucus, so that sperm can penetrate into the uterus worse. In addition, Clomifen inhibits the growth of the lining of the uterus, so that, if it comes to a pregnancy, these are insufficiently built up and the embryo can be worse eingelisten.
