About Clindamycin

Clindamycin is an active ingredient in the treatment of acute and chronic infections caused by pathogens such as bacteria, sporogens and cell parasites.

Clindamycin acts in the body:

  • Bone inflammation and joint infections
  • bacterial acute bronchitis and pneumonia
  • Ear, nose and throat infections
  • Dental and maxillofacial infections
  • Pelvic or abdominal infections.
  • Skin infections, inflammation of the soft tissues (tendons, muscles and ligaments)
  • Female genital infections
  • blood poisoning
  • scarlet fever.

Clindamycin can also be applied externally to the skin. For example, it locally relieves and heals acne and other skin infections.

Furthermore, the active substance can also be used to prevent infections during surgical interventions. For patients with an increased risk of infection thus reduces the risk of, for example, to develop heart inflammation. Patients who are allergic to penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics may use clindamycin as a replacement.

Mode of Action of Clindamycin

Clindamycin is an antibiotic of the subgroup of lincosamides. Due to its chemical structure, the active ingredient can be given in many dosage forms. The types of application include topical application to the skin or mucosa of the pubic area, internal swallowing, or infusion into the bloodstream.

A special feature of clindamycin is its ability to penetrate body tissues well. Even in bone and in the synovial fluid high concentrations of active can be achieved. However, clindamycin does not penetrate the cerebral fluid inadequately. Infections such as meningitis (meningitis) can therefore not be reliably treated with the drug.

Clindamycin is more effective against bacteria than lincomycin, which also belongs to the active substance group of the lincosamides.

    Clindamycin for Animal bite

After a dog bite I had to take clindamycin for 3 days, but I’m allergic, I did not know at the time. After dropping these pills, after 3 days a measles-like skin rash has itched on the hellish whole body! My doctor finally gave me Lorano tablets and after half a day, the rash slowly went back and it did not itch so extremely. After 2 days, nothing was left of the rash. Never again clindamycin.

    Clindamycin for Animal bite

only after c. 10 days I got itchiness at the infected area and then a huge exanthem on the whole upper palm. a doctor first thought that was because of the association. clindamycin discontinued immediately. Then the same evening pustules on the neck and decollete with strong itching, which then spread within three days on the whole body. change of doctor: doctor prescribed tavegil, itching subsided, pustules blurred like water color more and more into each other, after two-three days of continuous patches of stains, itching sporadically sporadically resurfaced in some places. is not quite finished, but is getting better every day. my third now treated doctor (hand surgeon) is the opinion, against the cat bite he would have never prescribed me clindamycin anyway. allergy pass is created.

    Clindamycin for After tooth extraction

I had to use Clindamycin 600mg 3 times now. Since I have an increased endocarditis risk because of artificial heart valve, I must take as a precaution before each tooth OP antibiotics. There were only stomach problems. I could switch off that with appropriate tablets. At the first application, for the purpose of implantation, my surgeon did not inform me about these side effects. The second time I had already taken precautionary stomach tablets and so turned off from the outset side effects. Now I had to go to my house dentist for inflamed tooth root. There I was already told at the receipt of the prescription that stomach pains will occur. I took 2 clindamycin 2 days before extraction. The swelling and the pain had already gone down considerably.

    Side effects: Stomach pain

    Clindamycin for Lymph node inflammation

On the third day of the intake I got an allergy – small red, itchy pimples – mostly in the area of the upper body. On the fourth day, stomach pains set in – towards the evening, after taking the third capsule, the discomfort worsened – spasmodic pains in the stomach and esophagus that almost took my breath away. In addition, strong nausea. Clindamycin belongs deposed !!! The irresponsibility of the pharmaceutical industry to bring such products to the market. Also, physicians should be more responsible when choosing prescription drugs and educate the patient about the side effects. I z. B. have stomach problems (gastric ulcers, etc.) and suffer from allergies anyway. Since it is the duty of the doctor to question possible diseases.

    Clindamycin for A headache

In August 2009, I have already been successfully treated with clindamycin. Since I have a penicylline allergy, I was glad to have found another remedy. Since I have now end of July 2010 a bad sore throat with reddened larynx, of course, my doctor grabbed this remedy On the third intake day at about 17 o’clock, I had taken a capsule around 16 o’clock, suddenly my upper lip swelled. First I thought of herpes, but I could see how the lip in a flash became ever thicker, against 6 pm saw the lip as if it had been treated with an overdose of Botox. I tried to remedy it by cooling, without success. No pain, no itching, just a frightening swelling of the lip. During the night, the swelling spread The whole face. Thick lips, hamster cheeks and bags under the eyes, which reminded of a bulldog, showed up in the morning at 4 o’clock. At present I will be with cortisone The swelling of the face disappeared after a Cortisonspritze by the attending physician. The thick lip remains for the time being and hopefully disappears after further treatment with cortisone.

    Clindamycin for Kieferabszess

About a year ago I got a clindamycin ointment wg. Get prescribed skin disorders. On the third day, swelling of the face as well as untreated ears started with extreme itching. After immediate discontinuation, it took about 4-5 days until the o.a. Symptoms are slowly subsiding. Due to acute jaw inflammation (+ OP) I received clindamycin in tablet form. The described symptoms appeared in extreme form already after one day, with heavy swelling of the face, the ears, the nose as well as extreme itching at these places, the palms (with small nodules) as well as at various other parts of the body. Striking also deeply dark circles under the eyes. After immediate discontinuation, the symptoms recede unpleasantly slowly. Wg. Clear visibility, I had to take my time off and first cure myself at home (bunker). For me, clindamycin is obviously completely incompatible. Since preventive after Kiefer-OP verbreichen, can be made about the effectiveness no statement.

    Clindamycin for Skin infection

I had to take the antibiotic 6 day as a result of a skin infection. After stopping taking a cold used me. No one knows if it is related to the antobiotic. However, it started on the same day with a rash on the hands. Since I initially did not think so, I wanted to wait at least the night. The next morning it nearly broke my legs. My thighs, torso, and arms were covered with a measles-like, itchy rash. I have never seen anything like that. I went to the emergency room at noon to the hospital and they prescribed aerius and prednisolone for me. It has also sounded as if they work relatively fast, but 2 days later, there is still no improvement. I will definitely never take this medication again!

    Side effects: Allergic skin reaction

    Clindamycin for Skin infection

During the intake only slight side effects: Easily itching (enduring), irritability (coping with humor), softer stools than usual, mild flatulence. On the last day of ingestion (day 8), sudden itching of the whole body, redness of the skin on the inner thighs, on the feet, erythema of the infected skin with some blisters, extreme dry skin on the extremities (otherwise soft, moisturized skin), which intensifies the itching, slight breathing difficulties (feeling of pressure on the chest), palpitations, mild diarrhea. Diagnosis: allergy. Treatment of allergic reaction: None necessary, under observation by family doctor. 1 week after discontinuation of the drug: itching better, skin reddening persistent, wheals all over, persistent erythema at the infected skin site. Conclusion: Systemic antiobiosis in skin infections is problematic in Allergy-prone persons. Better: Other treatments (homeopathic, surgical intervention)

    Clindamycin for Fever

Am in my mid-50s and can say that never before in my life the taking of a drug – such as this Clindamycin ratiopharm – has given such problems – immediate and massive: – extensive rash on virtually all extremities – strong bleeding gums on each tooth cleaning (despite the use of a soft toothbrush) – for months, scaly skin and penetrating increasing itching – the skin literally crumbled away on the neck; At the same time, the true miracle for me was the permanent renewal of the skin (definitely NO MERIT OF RATIOPHARM !!!) I only get sick when I think about the past eight months !!! (After inpatient treatment in a renowned dermatological clinic and interim rehab stay in the high mountain clinic Davos … may I now probably count on the neurodermatitis, the – supposedly modern – medical professionals all too easily as people with genetic defects are abqualifiziert … and again Once the question arises to me, who actually is ill (he), – an affected person or someone whose diagnosis should actually affect any normal human being! When assessing the compatibility and recommendation, I was unfortunately denied, without this one single point to click away.
