How Citalopram works

Citalopram belongs to the group of selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors and has their mode of action. The active substance blocks transport substances that transport the neurotransmitter serotonin back to storage after signal transmission. This inhibition provides more free serotonin in the brain for the transmission of nerve signals. This explains the mood-enhancing and anti-anxiety effect of citalopram, which is used primarily in the treatment of depression.

Citalopram is the most targeted of all serotonin reuptake inhibitors. This means that it has no or only a very minor effect on the metabolism of other neurotransmitters. In addition, no tolerance develops (decreasing effect, because the body gets used to the drug), even if the drug is given over a very long time.

Citalopram for Bulimia; Sleep disorders; Depression

I did not start 10μm, but then went to the prescribed dose of 20μm after 2 days. And had strong side effects for almost 1 week. Nausea, tachycardia, sweats and could only lie down and sleep. But then something eased. I can not yet recognize a special effect, except that I am still very tired and especially in the morning even nausea occurs. But I hope that this also sets in.

    Side effects: Sweats; Palpitations; Nausea

    Citalopram for Concentration disorders; Aggressiveness

I take these pills every morning (20 mg, citalopram) My doctor prescribed this medicine for me when I said that I was getting mad at something very fast and d. important reason is that my concentration for learning went down. There was nothing left in my head (learning for exams and exams). I take d. Tbl. For a good 10 days. Unfortunately they do not bring anything at the moment! On the contrary, I get tired very fast and yawn all the time. Other side effects: tiredness, listlessness, constant yawning, dry mouth and muscle twitching on the legs. What should the tablets actually do? When does it come to a correct effect entry? Have my exam in a month, but if it goes on I’ll lose my hope ….

Citalopram for Concentration disorders; Anxiety disorders

I started with 10mg citalopram and increased the dose every 7 days until I was at 40mg. I did not notice anything about the drug neither changing anything nor anything else. Although you should not stop taking citalopram overnight, I still did it after 3 months. I had the smarties effect, zero effect zero settling

    Citalopram for Multiple sclerosis

Before starting Rebif therapy (i.e., before July 2009) had a slightly queasy feeling about possible side effects but no real anxiety. I had no side effects. I think a positive attitude to the drug can (not: must !!) have a positive effect on the compatibility!

    Side effects: No side effects

Citalopram for Thyroid dysfunction; Pain (back); Borderline; Sleep disorders; Depression

I tolerate Mydocalm relatively well. I do NOT take it regularly, but only in acute cases. In addition, take other medications, but for back pain, generally Mydocalm. Now and then a certain amount of fatigue sets in, which is certainly also dependent on the shape of the day and the other medi’s. I take citalopram for almost 1 year and am very satisfied with it. I have no side effects. I’m still skeptical about zopiclone. Meanwhile, I can not sleep without Zopiclon, I feel the next day usually a little blown.

    Side effects: No side effects

    Citalopram for Overweight

The drug is well tolerated. Due to the strong libido disorders, however, not recommended. It is quite common for the drug to be one of the side effects. If that does not bother or who does not, the drug is well-advised.
