About Ciprofloxacin

Form of release

The tablets covered with a cover.

Composition

1 tablet, coated, contains:
active substance: ciprofloxacin hydrochloride 250, 500 mg.

Pharmacological effect

Ciprofloxacin is a broad-spectrum antimicrobial agent from the group of fluoroquinolones. It is bactericidal. The drug inhibits the DNA enzyme of bacteria, as a result of which DNA replication and the synthesis of bacterial cell proteins are disturbed. Ciprofloxacin acts both on multiplying microorganisms, and on being in a rest phase.
Ciprofloxacin is active against gram-negative aerobic bacteria; intracellular pathogens; Gram-positive aerobic bacteria. The majority of staphylococci, resistant to methicillin, are resistant to ciprofloxacin.

Indications for use

  • respiratory tract;
  • ear, nose and throat;
  • kidney and urinary tract;
  • genital organs;
  • the digestive system (including the mouth, teeth, jaws);
  • gallbladder and bile ducts;
  • skin, mucous membranes and soft tissues;
  • musculoskeletal system.

Ciprofloxacin is indicated for the treatment of sepsis and peritonitis, as well as for the prevention and treatment of infections in patients with reduced immunity (with immunosuppressant therapy).

Dosing and Administration

The dose of Ciprofloxacin depends on the severity of the disease, the type of infection, the condition of the body, the age, weight and function of the kidneys in the patient. Recommended doses are usually: Ciprofloxacin in tablet form 250 mg and 500 mg for oral administration:
When infections of the urinary tract take the drug Ciprofloxacin 0.125 – 0.5 g 2 times a day, in more severe cases – to 0.75 g 2 times a day. The course of treatment is usually 5 to 15 days.
Diseases of the lower respiratory tract of medium severity – 250 mg, and in more severe cases 500 mg, 2 times a day;
For the treatment of gonorrhea, a single administration of Ciprofloxacin in a dose of 250-500 mg is recommended;
Gynecological diseases, enteritis and colitis with severe and high temperature, prostatitis, osteomyelitis – 500 mg 2 times a day (for the treatment of banal diarrhea can be used at a dose of 250 mg 2 times a day).
The drug should be taken on an empty stomach, washed down with a sufficient amount of liquid. Patients with severe renal dysfunction should be given a half dose of the drug. The duration of treatment depends on the severity of the disease, but treatment should always last at least two more days after the disappearance of the symptoms of the disease. Usually, the duration of treatment is 7-10 days.

    Ciprofloxacin for Tonsillitis

    My third antibiotic after a long and heavy tonsillitis. I tolerate antibiotics pretty badly and got ciprofloxacin. I must confess, after reading the reviews here I almost got the howling and was scared to take this medication, but still have it. After about 3 days, improvement in my tonsils occurred, and for the first few days I had mild pain in the Achilles tendons, knees and neck and a lethargic digestion. But I have to say that here some reviews of the antibiotic are very inappropriate. I was so scared to take the drug which was ultimately unfounded. Yes, I had pain in the tendons and joints, which were very well tolerated and did not interfere in the least in my daily life, and the medication did very well, although I have to say that I am well hydrated (2 liters of water daily ). Even now, a week after weaning, I felt no side effects.

    Ciprofloxacin for Prostatitis

    hello, I hope someone can calm down here, I was on treatment for prostatitis, I first got the antibiotic cefuroxime for seven days, the inflammation was gone the pain but not, then I was prescribed ciprofloxacin I have taken nine days long , I am free of pain as far as prostatitis is concerned, but the side effects that have come to the fore through ciprofloxacin are still not gone until about 7 weeks after the last dose, I still have some depression in my back and always a lump in my throat , have partial aggression, panic attacks are very often tired and have slight muscle cramps, how long can it take until the side effects of ciprofloxacin are finally completely gone? I look forward to any reassuring answer!

    Ciprofloxacin for Cystitis

    I have been prescribed Ciprofloxacin for the treatment of cystitis by my GP (250mg, 2x a day). Previously, I had already received the antibiotic cotrimoxazole because of the same condition, which I tolerated very well and which also helped against the inflammation. So I assumed the Cipro would look similar and did not think much about taking it. The package leaflet lists the usual possible side effects that can be used to live well during treatment, as well as nothing that makes one alert. But after the first tablet, I felt strong changes. My arms felt heavy, my elbows hurt as if you were stabbing them with a knife. I felt dizzy, a short time later, a strong physical agitation, I could not sit still. Also, I was suddenly very easily irritable and aggressive (otherwise I am a more relaxed and calm person), broke down in tears for no reason and felt otherwise just sick. After the second pill I felt a tug in my thighs and back, my palms burning and I had a bad taste in my mouth. I felt tired but could not or did not sleep very well (during the entire treatment period). After the third tablet I had the impression that my fingers were swollen. Alarmed, I called in practice and told about my previous reactions. We weighed down, normal side effects, I should read the package insert. In the meantime, the treatment with Cipro had an effect on my work, I was no longer on the line, was unfocused and just stood next to me. Word-finding difficulties (spoken and written) and forgetfulness annoyed me in addition. My neck was cramping, my knees were inflamed and my knees were somehow taut. On the third day the diarrhea began, I had constant pressure on my stomach and ran half an hour away from the toilet. Meanwhile my fingers and toes hurt, also here I had the feeling of inflammations. On the penultimate day my whole body ached, most of the legs (calves and knees), the running was difficult, the corridor up a staircase made me very hard. I had spasms in the soles of my feet. Lying or sitting in one position did not take long, then new pain appeared at the pressure-loaded areas. The last use of the drug is over a month ago. As I write this, my fingers and wrists ache, my back and chest, and my legs still hurt. I hope the effect soon disappears. If you get the drug prescribed, ask your doctor what it is all about. If in doubt, prescribe a lighter remedy, I would never take Cipro for such a small bladder infection again!

    I was supposed to take Ciprofloxacin 500mg for 10 days in the morning and in the evening for kidney pancreas, already at the 2nd infusion I had a severe circulatory collapse with nausea, severe sweating, dizziness, vomiting and ringing of the ears. Now on the 4th day, severe abdominal pain, headaches and nightmares were added. I feel really bad with this medicine and I have to take it for a full 6 days, so 12 tablets. Impossible, not recommended!

    Ciprofloxacin for Cystitis

    Cipro prescribed for recurrent cystitis. Fast recovery. Pain in the right foot after a few days (tendinitis of the plantar tendon), joint pain. The joint pain lasted for many weeks in the hand, the tendonitis has been plaguing for months now. However, I did not think that the side effects were / are and have now again taken Cipro (again cystitis). Well exacerbation of tinnitus, nightmares (actually listed in the leaflet!), Extreme fatigue and laxity. That was the last time I took this horror drug. Why is not this withdrawn from circulation?

    Ciprofloxacin for Urinary tract infection

    One tablet each morning and evening because of a urinary tract infection. On the 3rd day application stopped because it brought me no improvement, but only side effects. On the first day everything else OK, on the second day muscle pain, first alternately (sometimes calf right, sometimes thigh left) then it has limited to the left arm. Especially when I used my hand, it hurt like I had hit it somewhere before. When on the third day then a tingling in my arm began, that also did not go away, I stopped the intake and got another antibiotic prescribed. For that I had to give another urine sample before and there was no improvement. I already knew that before, because I still had blood in my urine. So I would say try it, it helps some. As soon as NW become noticeable immediately stop and go to the doctor. Sometimes people are still fighting weeks, months later with NW But everyone is and reacts differently to medications, especially antibiotics

    Ciprofloxacin for Cystitis

    Good day, take the antibiotics now only 3 days 2 times a day 250mg. After the second pill there was a slight diarrhea and now on the third day I have muscle pain in my legs and the whole body a feeling similar to a cold. moreover, the antibiotic causes stomach pain and bloated abdomen, such problems, except diarrhea, have never had with antibiotics. Will tomorrow ask the doctor if I can sell it. I’ve never had that kind of thing. So far I have tolerated antibiotics such as Clindasol etc. very well, but that is enough for me after 3 days. I do not think that for 7 days, because I also suffer from fibromyalgia and anyway know long-term pain, but even more I do not have.

    Side effects: Bloating; Diarrhea; Muscle aches

    I’m a bit scared of ciprofloxacin because I normally tolerate antibiotics! Even with a 250 mg package that was prescribed to me, I got the following side effects: * persistent drowsiness * loss of appetite * sensitivity * tightness in the chest (very strong) * drowsiness * lovelessness * neck pain, (or muscle pain), the barely get away are so uplifting in the head that it causes a kind of pressure in the head. Sometimes it calms down when you sit, you hardly get up, the pressure comes back acutely and is accompanied by unpleasant stitches. I get through these tablets, as if I would drink for 5 days or would be on the worst drugs, or must endure the toughest hangover of it!

    Ciprofloxacin for Stomach-intestinal infection-

    I had a severe stomach intestinal infection and was supposed to take the medicine morning and night (2 times 500mg). On the first day I did not notice, only that the inflammation in the abdomen eased. On the second day then extreme drowsiness about 1 hour after ingestion. I had to go back to bed and slept 4 hours like in a coma. I forced myself out of bed but felt extremely dull and weak. At night, extreme pain in the abdomen, which made me hardly sleep. On the 3rd day then dizziness associated with tight in the chest and the feeling just did not get enough air. Could only withstand sitting. Approximately 10 hours after ingestion, this subsided. In the night but then again total sleep disorders. Have never been able to sleep more than 1 hour. Pain in the legs and cramps in the abdomen. But the abdomen was much better than the night before. Of course I feel pretty weak and tired now, but so far no breathing problems anymore. If the antibiotic takes 10 days, the side effects should stop, I will discontinue it after the 5th day. You just feel worse than without. But also think that the dose is perhaps quite high for me. I’m only 1.71 tall and weigh 52kg.

    I took Ciprofloxacin 10 days 2 times 250 mg for kidney pancreas. I am in the 5th month after receipt, and have strong side effects still: inflammation was resolved, NW occurred immediately after taking stop on: -Darm problems -Burning thighs, abdomen, fungal infection -Wochenlang strong tachycardia, stinging in the chest, dizziness -actually severe joint discomfort, and an unbearable feeling of cold coupled with constant cold showers, they pull through the body – Before about 2 months of hot flashes in the morning and cold in the evening. -Antriebslos

    Biter-sour taste after ingestion on the tongue, now persistent fungus on it. In my opinion – a wrong decision of the doctor to recommend this preparation first. Another drug would have done it without causing such damage. I’m totally dissatisfied.

    I have been living in Ecuador for 3 months and had a bad diarrhea. After a stool test, I was prescribed medication for the amoebae found. Without success. After 14 days with diarrhea, I went to the hospital, completely weakened, where I was prescribed Bactiflox-500. Except for a minimal unpleasant taste in the mouth, I had no side effects and am going on the diarrhea.

    Side effects: Taste alteration

    Ciprofloxacin for Cystitis

    I took Cipro 7 days. After that, nothing was the same as before. I got muscle pain that was from the other star, I have not had such pain in my whole life! In addition, the pain and other symptoms of cystitis remained (no more bacteria), I got a vulvodynia, depression and lost 20 kg! Tachycardia, palpitations, diarrhea, histamine intolerance. The vulvodynia and the bladder pain I have since taking, which is over 2 years ago. It improves very slowly. Cipro -NIE again! There would have been alternatives. My trust in doctors is permanently destroyed.

    Ciprofloxacin for Urinary tract infection

    I have been prescribed Ciprofloxacin 250mg twice a day for 5 days by my internist. I asked both my doctor and the pharmacist if this drug has any noticeable or common side effects. Since I have an orthopedic problem anyway. No, this drug is super tolerated and it is a great antibiotic! I was mainly told by the pharmacist! After a dose (in the evening), I woke up the following morning with extreme sore throat (and very swollen lymph nodes on the neck). I read the leaflet again and saw that in case of throat-throat-throat pain, the doctor should be contacted and the medi. should be discontinued. I called my internist and the receptionist asked. Dr. says you should the medi. necessarily continue! OK. That’s me! Until the 3rd day of use, more and more pain showed on the right knee and the tendons on the legs. That was yesterday, Friday evening. The pain has worsened. I can barely get up. Above all, the stairs are bothering me. Now take 3 times a day because of this severe pain. Of course, I stopped taking ciprofloxacin on the third day (after taking 6 tablets). Doctor I reach the WE course no-hospital would be in the worst case, an option. In any case, I find it sad how little one of the many cases of these mostly also irreparable side effects is said! It’s not like the side effects disappear after you stop taking them – they’re getting worse! And as I read not only with me! I will certainly contact the patient lawyer! I advise everyone to take this antibiotic! Because with something that would have disappeared after completion you can live, but that nerve damage, tendon tears, etc … are only possible – and also occur more often, I recommend everyone first to look for alternatives and only in the last resort to take this stuff , I will NEVER take it again !!!

    Side effects: Sore throat; Crave pain

    Ciprofloxacin for Urinary tract infection

    For me it is still such a terrible memory of this drug, I have kept the shafts as a warning. on the 5th day of ingestion (I should take 1 tablet for 10 days), it started with violent spasmodic abdominal pain, tremors, cold sweats, extreme weakness within a few minutes, circulation at the bottom, diarrhea that was unstoppable, then sudden Blood better bleeding in the stool. Today I still wonder how I got over this night, my doctor later explained to me that my body was dealing with a pseudomembranous colitis. NEVER again this drug!

    So I got the medicine prescribed because I had bacteria in the vagina that caused a urinary tract infection. I had previously looked on the Internet for the sake of compatibility. well then have read here in sanego and thought phew, that must be a hell of a witness, but I have to take it. At half past nine I took it at once about half an hour later, I was so tired that I’m in bed. Night woke up at half past one fuss chills and 40.1 fever … Circulatory totally on the head quite strange feeling in the legs and the light was bad with the eyes ….. So never the stuff I’ve just taken a tablet take that he caught the stuff
