  • Treat circulatory disorders of coronary arteries in coronary heart disease
  • treat stable angina pectoris
  • Relieve Cardiovascular Discomfort
  • treat anemia sparingly

This is how bisoprolol works

Below you will learn more about the fields of application and the mode of action of bisoprolol.
Please also read the information on the drug groups beta-blockers, antihypertensives, to which the active ingredient bisoprolol belongs.

Areas of application of the active ingredient bisoprolol

Bisoprolol is used in the treatment of hypertension, which has no organic causes (essential hypertension), and in cardiovascular disorders.

In addition, bisoprolol is used in heart diseases that are associated with inadequate oxygen supply to the heart muscle (myocardial insufficiency).

Bisoprolol is also used for circulatory disorders of the coronary arteries (coronary heart disease) and angina pectoris.

A more rare application of bisoprolol is the supportive treatment of anemia.

Patients with severe hypertension are often treated with various drugs. In addition to bisoprolol, diuretics (diuretics) or other antihypertensive agents (calcium channel blockers, ACE inhibitors) or vasodilating agents (eg dihydralazine, prazosin) are used.

In the case of cardiac insufficiency, the drug is combined with ACE inhibitors and diuretics as well as, optionally, with cardiac glycosides, which increase the performance of the heart.

Basically, bisoprolol is initially administered in low doses that are only gradually increased. In any case, the doctor will adjust the dosage individually to the patient, his pulse rate and the success of the treatment.

For the following applications Bisoprolol , in-depth information is available:

  • Hypertension
  • Angina pectoris
  • Cardiovascular Disease
  • heart failure

Mode of action of bisoprolol

During stress, the organism releases the neurotransmitters epinephrine and norepinephrine. They generally cause an increased willingness to fight and escape the body. Especially at the heart, both substances bind to so-called beta-1 receptors. These receptors are activated by the messenger substances: The heart then beats faster and stronger, the blood pressure rises.

Bisoprolol belongs to the drug group of beta-blockers. He is “cardioselective”, since he acts after ingestion in the body exclusively on the beta-1-receptors of the heart. Bisoprolol displaces adrenalin and norepinephrine at the receptors of the heart and thus suppresses their effect. This reduces the number of heartbeats and the amount of circulating blood, and at the same time significantly reduces blood pressure.

In addition, the drug slows down the transmission of electrical impulses to the cardiac conduction system. This calms the heart when the stress is too high and relieves it.

    Bisoprolol for High blood pressure

I was on this drug with a dosage of 5 mg set over 4 years ago. The effectiveness was good, I had no problems. In March, a neurologist accidentally noticed my low heart rate (48), blood pressure levels were within normal limits. An ECG was then made showing cardiac arrhythmias. The same result was then at the family doctor on the repeat ECG, the pulse was again too low (42). Then I got a referral to the cardiologist. He made an ultrasound, Herz, and gave the all-clear. The cause was the dosage of 5 mg bisoprolol. Together with the result I got a new prescription: 2.5 mg bisoprolol + 2.5 mg RAMIPRIL. The blood pressure is still well adjusted, the pulse normal. Why was the old dosage with 5 mg bisopolol so weird on the pulse, no proper justification from the cardiologist. After all, I’ve been taking the tablets for years without problems?

    Side effects: Pulse slowdown

    Bisoprolol for High blood pressure

Was because of hypertension in severe pain in the CH. I got bisoprolol because of the high blood pressure and fast pulse. The effect was good, the blood pressure values were highly normal at 24 hours. Even at home the blood pressure values are in the normal range. Pulse is also good. After 1.5 months, the first side effects became noticeable: dizziness, headache, getting dark with getting up, stomach pain, fatigue, tiredness, irritating cough, loss of libido, depressive mood, digestive problems, anxiety, muscle tremors, muscle weakness, change in the skin, sensitive skin. Actually, everything you can have. Already talked to my doctor. She makes another blood count and then we decide whether to wait or change.

    Bisoprolol for High blood pressure

I switched from ramipril to bisoprolol because the side effects of ramipril were unbearable. After 6 days of taking it is so reasonably. The blood pressure is okay (120/130 – 75-85), but I often have an inner restlessness and anxiety. I also have a nausea in the morning. From time to time dizziness is added. To rule out whether it really is the side effects, I have now examined again by the family doctor (blood, 24 h measurement of blood pressure) The result I have tomorrow, I’m curious and hope it’s nothing worse.

Bisoprolol for Pain (acute); Migraine; High blood pressure

Since Topamax, the number of migraine attacks has dropped significantly. I have tingling in my arms and legs, sometimes in my face. After a banana go again. Partly I’m very tired, I also lost about 3.5 kg – which I think is not bad. Striking, however, is a quick irritability with me. I did not complain of interactions with the other meds.

    Bisoprolol for High blood pressure

Ad 1: Since taking ramipril since November 2007, I started to produce bronchial mucus in large quantities and lost 5 kg. Ramipril prescribed my GP for hypertension. I immediately dropped Ramipril. First, he would have had to send me to the radiologist for my thyroid gland. I’ve been taking Euthyrox 75 for about 25 years. When I was a radiologist, I made an appointment without my GP and a warm knot was found on my thyroid gland. Lt. Radiologist I have to halve the dose of Euthyrox. Even though the thyroid or parathyroid glands produce too much hormone, blood pressure can rise. Now an internist has prescribed me because of the bronchial mucus Inuvair 100/6, although I have an overactive thyroid and suffer from high blood pressure. Now I suffer from insomnia, loss of appetite, anxiety. Because of my hypertension, he prescribed me bisoprolol-corax 5 mg, although I have hyperthyroidism.

After one year of taking, 24 hours. Blood pressure measurement for control. Then you saw the misery. Constantly a pulse of 60, at night even 50, blood pressure always around 160 to 100. Immediately discontinued and lo and behold, all the side effects described above were gone after a week. If I had known, I would be back to the doctor after 6 weeks!
