About Aspirin

Manufacturer: Bayer Vital GmbH – Active ingredient: acetylsalicylic acid

Dosage form: tablet

Aspirin contains the active substance acetylsalicylic acid.

Acetylsalicylic acid (ASA) is primarily used to treat mild to moderate pain such as headache, toothache or menstrual pain. But even with greater pain in the context of a migraine, the acetylsalicylic acid is effective.

Acetylsalicylic acid has the ability to prevent platelets from clumping and thus prevent blood clots (thrombosis). That’s why the drug is colloquially referred to as a blood thinner.

In addition, acetylsalicylic acid has an antipyretic effect, which can be used in the treatment of influenza (real flu) or in a cold. Rarely, acetylsalicylic acid is also used in rheumatic diseases.

For pain therapy and to reduce fever, doses of 500 to 1000 milligrams of acetylsalicylic acid per day are usually used. A daily maximum dose of 3 grams should not be exceeded.

If acetylsalicylic acid is used to prevent blood clots, ie in its capacity as an antiplatelet agent, it is used in low doses of 100 to 300 milligrams per day. The drug is given especially in heart attack and stroke or its harbingers (short brain function disorders) to prevent recurrence. Even with an unstable angina pectoris acetylsalicylic acid is used to prevent the blockage of small blood vessels in the heart.

Acetylsalicylic acid is commercially available in the form of tablets, effervescent tablets, suppositories or as granules. In the clinic, a water-soluble form of acetylsalicylic acid is given as an infusion solution directly into the blood.

For the following uses of Acetylsalicylic acid , in-depth information is available:

  • Pain (mild to moderate)
  • headaches
  • menstrual pain

Please also read the information on the drug groups non-opioid analgesics, antiplatelet agents, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, anti-inflammatories, migraine, painkillers, to which the active ingredient acetylsalicylic acid belongs.

Areas of application according to the manufacturer’s instructions

  • mild to moderate pain such as headache, toothache and menstrual pain

The tablets should always be taken with a glass of water as this will speed up the onset of action. Acetylsalicylic acid should never be taken on an empty stomach as the active ingredient irritates the gastric mucosa.

Adults may take 1 to 2 tablets as a single dose (0.5 to 1 gram) and, if necessary, use up to 6 tablets (3 grams) per day for at least 4 hours each.</p >

Children up to the age of 14 may only take the medicine after consulting a doctor. Children over 5 years take a half tablet as a single dose, as a total daily dose maximum one and a half tablets. Children over 12 years are taking 1 tablet, per day should not be taken more than 3 tablets. The gap between the receipts should be at least 4 hours.

The application for fever and pain should not take longer than 3 to 4 days without medical advice. In case of liver or kidney dysfunction, the dose must be reduced.

    Aspirin for Depression

I’ll take Laif 900 since February 6, 2008. Be well a week, my hands hurt. As I have already read in these reports, pain also occurs to me like a thousand pinpricks in my hands. Especially sensitive to cold, cold water, raindrops. Depending on what I touch or touch an object, my hands hurt. Today was the family doctor, who could not help me and sent me on to a neurologist. To get an appointment is hopeless. After just a week of pain, I can not say that it’s better, but as I read this in the reports, it could come from the Laif 900. Can someone tell me what else I can do? Does Ibuprofen help in an emergency?

    Aspirin for A headache

After taking Aspirin Complex, it began to itch on both backs of the hands about 30 minutes later – and some red areas turned red, itched like devils and swelled slightly. Another 10min. later it began to swell in the eyes. And after a 1h both eyes were swollen shut. (about 8 hours later) Now while I write this report, the puffiness on the eyes are already on the decline and I think tomorrow are the eyes back to normal. I received cortisone tablets and an antihistamine from the doctor – which also helped quickly against the itching of the hands and eyes. The hands were ok again after 3-4 hours. Luckily, it did not hurt – and my wife and I laughed a lot about it today. I hope for others it works out as well as mine. Get well soon
