    Amitriptyline for Fibromyalgia; Depression

I got amitriptyline for my depressive episode and pain therapy at the same time. In small doses, this antidepressant should relieve my pain symptoms and at the same time bring in its mood-enhancing effect. After a short time, I noticed improvement. My pain was getting better, but still very strong. But my mood improved. I was not so aggressive anymore, not so sad anymore, not so self-pitying anymore and sometimes even feeling like going outside after weeks and months of hiding in the house … But the side effects were already extreme. Although in the leaflet weight gain was indicated as an adverse reaction, I continued to decline. I no longer had an appetite, often vomited and had constipation problems. Fatigue and exhaustion were the order of the day. Sometimes I could sleep through 10 hours at a stretch, but not at night! In general, I would recommend the drug but! I only used it because I got a drug that was better tolerated and had fewer side effects

    Amitriptyline for Fibromyalgia

I’ve been taking amitriptyline (antidepressants) for 8 months, which is used to relieve pain in my illness. For several weeks now, I have been breathing pauses at night, suddenly wake up, open my eyes and gasp like a fish.

    Amitriptyline for Depression

I’ve been taking amitriptyline for about 4 months now after 13 years of having my depression. It took a long time for me to decide to even take any medication. Now, in retrospect, I get annoyed that I did not do it much earlier. Amitryptiline was prescribed for me because I also had (connected with my depression) a very pronounced irritable bowel syndrome and also from the stomach, most of the drugs have very poorly tolerated. Since amitriptyline is also used in irritable bowel syndrome and probably has a positive effect on the autonomic nervous system, I killed two birds with one stone. The side effects were in my beginning very pronounced with constantly very cold hands, fingers and feet, as well as numb fingers and at times a numb lip. In addition, there was ongoing fatigue and at times in the first few weeks sleep disorders with sweating and nightmares. There were also extreme mood swings and irritability. My neurologist then advised me to lower the dose once more and then slowly re-dose it. At the moment I am at 75 mg and I have to say that I have never felt better …..! The side effects are almost completely gone (except the fatigue), also my depression and the irritable bowel !!! To the weight gain described by many, I can say that I have no problems with it, but I also go to the sport 3 times a week. But yes, the increased craving for sweets I have already noticed. However, I think weight gain is not as significant as the benefits of amitriptyline treatment. At least not for me!

I have taken Palexia 200mg, Topimarat 50mg and Amitriptyline 25mg daily for 2 years. Have had almost no pain during this time, rarely only a headache. Through the medis, I gained 15kg in time. Weekly extreme sleep problems had, my mood swings were also changing weekly. Had more language problems and word finding disorders and loss of concentration. I started dropping Palexia 4 weeks ago, it worked without problems. Have taken to replace tramadol and I am now Palexia free after 4 weeks. The Topimarat has been reduced to half, so far I have no depreciation. Next week is still the Ami. Down to 10mg.
