    Enbrel for Chronic polyarthritis

My husband – born in 1947 – was treated with Enbrel in 2001 for 3 weeks (6 injections). The treatment had to be stopped because of intolerance (nausea and dizziness). Approximately 2 months later, he got speech, vision and gait disturbances, fatigued quickly, got muscle spasms and tremors in his legs and arms. He was treated neurologically with suspected myasthenia gravis. In 2002, a tetraspastics was added and he was no longer fit for work. Since 2003 he was permanently dependent on a wheelchair and 100% severely disabled. His condition steadily worsened and in 2007, in poor condition, he was transferred to a university hospital, where he had not been a patient until then, and the doctors examined the case from scratch. Although all the investigations concerning the Enbrel treatment had already been made, but without result. In 2009 we received the news that the exclusion trial had led to the conclusion that the Enbrelspritzen administered in 2001 were the trigger for my husband’s tragic condition. I have today an opinion that implies that in 2001 the long-term studies for this drug were not yet completed and you did not know these side effects. My husband was not a tester and certainly would not have taken the remedy if he had known the possible consequences. He has now been treated with rituximab in an attempt for 4 years, which has stopped his illness. There is no cure – END OPEN!! My question is: Has anyone had similar experiences with Enbrel?

    Enbrel for Arthritis

The most unpleasant thing about Enbrel is the spraying, because sometimes it really hurts. The only side effect that really bothered me was the nocturnal leg cramps, all the way up my thighs. Strangely, always early in the morning. Now I take half a tablet of Limptar’N in the evening and the cramps have stopped. The effect of Enbrel on my rheumatism is so good that I have not injected MTX for 4 weeks. I hope it continues.

    Enbrel for Arthritis

The preparation helped me but had bigger expectations. The liver values became progressively worse. Foot and leg cramps, especially at night, increased. Otherwise, I have not been so good at detecting side effects. Breast, however, has become much larger. Infections, smells and tastes decreased significantly. However, what I found to be particularly negative was the nettle fever that I unquestionably attributed to Enbrel. At the moment I’m pausing for about 8 weeks with the 1x weekly spraying. However, the general condition of the movements has become much worse. So inject Enbrel again, so that the pain is reasonably bearable. Every tablet has some side effects. However, the quality of life increases significantly, if you can walk properly and not so much pain.

    Enbrel for Arthritis

I did not tolerate Mtx as Lantarel at all, after every injection 3 days diarrhea. For a year, I inject Metex without any side effect. Before Enbrel, I injected Humira for a year and was painless. Humira had to be discontinued because it was probably the cause of polyneuropathy. Now I have been injecting Enbrel for a year and my rheumatism is almost gone. After 6 months, I had a sudden hearing loss that did not go away. A slight gear uncertainty now and then, and strong muscle spasms are now my problem. I hope that the combination is not the cause of this medication.
