    Abilify for Psychosis

Abilify 10 mg – A field report Side effects: Libido loss, insomnia, impotence, decreased sexual desire for love Dear Sanego Community, For some weeks I receive as an antipsychotic 10 mg Abilify. Hereby I would like to describe my experiences to you. I. Explanation of Abilify Mechanism of Action The special feature of aripiprazole is the so-called partial D2 receptor antagonism. This means that the blockade of dopamine receptors is very selective in the mesolimbic system where too much of this messenger is present after the dopamine hypothesis. On the other hand, in the mesofrontal system, where schizophrenia has too little of this messenger, the neuroleptic leads to activation, thus mimicking endogenous dopamine. II. Antipsychotic efficacy In a study conducted by the manufacturer before approval in Germany, the effect on the positive symptoms was comparable to that of haloperidol. The antipsychotic efficacy is comparable to the other atypical antipsychotics quetiapine, risperdione, ziprasidone, paliperidone, amisulpride, clozapine, and olanzapine. On the negative symptoms and cognitive functions Abilify, however, significantly better than haloperidol. The cognitive functions impaired in schizophrenia are also positively influenced by the activation of the mesofrontal system in the brain. III. Impact on the Prolusion Levels Prolusion levels remain constant or even lower under Abilify. It leads to no prolactin increase such. As the classic neuroleptics or atypical neuroleptics amisulpride and risperidone. IV. No EPS (Extrapyramidal Motor Disorders) While even the neuroleptic Risperdal has led to muscle stiffness for me and thus I could exercise in the spare time almost no sports, this is not the case under Abilify. The limbs remain flexible, there is no muscle stiffness and no Parkinsonsyndrom. V. Weight-neutral The antipsychotics clozapine and olanzapine can lead to extreme weight gain after initiation of therapy. Weight gains of 20 kg and more are not uncommon, especially among Zyprexa. Aripiprazole, on the other hand, is absolutely weight-neutral, it does not gain weight at all. VI. No blood cell changes While Leponex can lead to life-threatening blood cell changes, these parameters are not changed under Abilify. VII. Effects on sexual function Here Abilify seems to have advantages over other antipsychotics. My own experience, I can not contribute because of the short-term intake, however, the American website is claimed that the incidence of sex dysfunction is not different from those of placebo. VIII. Effects on sleep Due to the strong drive-enhancing effect, I have had to struggle with severe sleep disturbances until weaning. According to the specialist information, 17% of all patients, and thus very often, sleep disorders. Conclusion: Due to the high price of 8 euros per piece for the 10 mg tablet, as well as the massive sleep disturbances that triggers this antipsychotic, I can not recommend the use of Abilfiy which is advertised by the manufacturer as the first neuroleptic of the third generation.

    Abilify for Psychosis

I am female, 37 years old and take that Abilify are the acute phase (paranoid schizophrenia). In the schizophrenic phase, Abilify in combination with Risperdal and Tavor helped me, so I became clear after three weeks. Then I only got Abilify in the maximum dose. The first three months with this drug were very, very unpleasant. Morning extreme restlessness, urge to move, difficulty sleeping, and switching from the stimulating phase to the sedating phase of this median were hard to take. From noon I was inhibited in thinking, the cycle went down, I took in the wake of the yo-yo effect again 40 kg. After creeping were the extreme restlessness / urge to move, and the very strong sedation away. Or. weakened. Abilify also slows down fat metabolism and increases appetite, just like any other antipsychotic. Although not quite so much as in other, but the loss is very difficult due to the inertia and the two just mentioned effects. The effectiveness, so the antipsychotic effect was not perfect even for me in the maximum dose. Good, but not perfect. And it annoys me to have to take another sedative in addition to be able to sleep at least 6-7 hours! Any additional agent increases the side effect of weight gain. When the second or third drug-inducing drug breaks any metabolism! On the antidepressant effect: it is drive-enhancing by the impulse of (nor) adrenaline, but too little serotonin is triggered and thus increased. I’m restless half the day, but my mood could really be better. After that, from noon onwards, the effect changes to the opposite. And I’m calmer, more tired. Conclusion: Who has no psychotic symptoms – keep away! And as little as possible, but as much as necessary. Lower doses are always to be preferred. For depression alone: choose a different drug. It is not a miracle product !! For me, Abilify has only been very effective antipsychotic in combination with Risperdal. I do not wish anyone a weight gain of 45 KG in total after 13 years of taking different antipsychotics. The Discrimination is so enormous that I tell everyone from the unnecessary !!! Can advise against taking psychotropic drugs. Because not only my body is dirty, my soul is hurt! Good psychotherapy is sometimes more effective than letting oneself drone. Human affection is the alpha and omega. Since I am also afraid of the so-called weaning difficulties … I am looking for a psychiatrist who works independently of the pharmaceutical industry. (MEZIS: Which means: I pay my own food. An association of independent doctors, specialists and psychiatrists.) Greetings from a responsible patient

    Abilify for Psychosis

Within days, I got hallucinations, sleep problems. I’ve gained weight, was impotent, got anxiety and severe heart and circulatory problems. In addition, I became very restless. The drug triggers the symptoms against which it is supposed to work. I would not recommend this medicine to anyone. It is also very expensive. For me, Abilify is one of the worst drugs.
