Gabapentin for Multiple sclerosis; Pain (acute)

I’ve had Ms since 1991 and in recent years the pain in my feet and legs has become unbearable. Feeling like being trapped in a vise and someone keeps turning. Initially, gabapentin was quite severe (dizziness, fatigue, word problems). In the meantime I take 2×600 mg in the evening and if necessary also 1-2x 600mg during the day. I’m tired of gabapentin, but I still can not sleep. I’ve gained weight if I skip the medication (because I want to drive a car over longer distances, for example), then I can def. not sleep. Vermutl. slight withdrawal symptom. Sexual desire has also declined significantly – but could also be due to the disease. Still, I would recommend gabapentin for such pain. Better to take something for the pain than to torture yourself all day. Oh well, if I move after taking (walk around or brush), then it does not work. In the meantime, medication only works for me after three or more hours. Taking today for example at 10 pm I am still sitting here and we have 2 pm!

    Gabapentin for Morbus sudeck

In the beginning often nausea, dizziness, now in vehicles or faster movements. Lack of concentration, blurred vision and mild to moderate skin eczema. Tiredness (however, the fatigue was greater when the dose was lowered temporarily, presumably it is also painful). Weight gain, but by consistently less controllable. Decreased libido. Dose 3000mg / d

    Gabapentin for Rls

Obtained by the neurologist Gabapentin against my RLS (light form) prescribed mainly to get a good night’s sleep. Since gabapentin is a centrally acting agent, the associated side effects such as fatigue and difficulty concentrating, in addition to increased appetite and resulting weight gain, that’s actually the problem. Despite evening dosing of 100mg, the following day is very slow / sluggish. One has the feeling, mentally and physically, to drive with the handbrake on. The RLS symptoms are of course also muted. I will talk again with my neurologist about alternatives.

Gabapentin for Sleep disorders; Pain (chronic)

I am a border liner and have been in inpatient treatment for a very long time. In addition, I have chronic pain since a herpes zoster disease. I take: 150 saroten, 10000 gabapentin (I know that is a lot, actually, the maximum dose would be fixed at 3700) 150 Voltaren dispers, 400 Tramal, 300 Seroquel, 15 Zopiclone, 2 Pantozol … this is my solid medication, need medicine (eg Tavor) not included. All these medicines now cause me extreme stomach pains – I’ve had stomach ulcers a few years ago. Especially the Volatren and probably the Gabapentin also go to my stomach. But since I take it for a very long time and there are really many different tablets, I can not say exactly. From the Seroquel I have extremely increased, but need it for rest on the evening. Zopiclone is an indispensable sleeping drug for me, but when I try to leave it out I realize that I get withdrawal symptoms, not surprising after the years of taking in. However, I did not have to dose it high, I take the 2 tablets constantly and can therefore sleep relatively well. Saroten has also caused me to gain weight. The advantage is that I am a little sedated with the help of the Saroten during the day and so calmed down.

Katadolon S Long 400mg: Speech stammering, dizziness, tremor Effect: Helps me in the evening better to fall asleep and the night better to cope with the pain in the back. I take the side effects into account. Gabapentin 1A Pharma 300mg: Extremely water storage Effect: The pain in the nerves is corrected quite well from Table 1 – 10 about 5 so I was satisfied but the water retention and weight gain were too strong. Once Lyrica about 1/2 year taking duration, at 2. times after 10 days the same side effects, therefore discontinued. Morphine: At the beginning of therapy extreme microsleep therefore about 1 year no car driving but after getting used to that went again. Effect: The pain is storable and I can cope with it.

    Gabapentin for Muscle cramps

As for me with a severe form of muscle wasting and nerve damage are not insanely many things to choose from, Gabapentin was the attempt to curb the years of constant pain, so that I can keep my feet short but is more a little damper in the truest sense of the word also did not happen. A quarter of an hour after taking the spell starts and you realize that something is happening in the head. Continuous with all sorts of bearable and unbearable side effects, my life was now next to pain even after long-term side effects, when I take pills and what I can do before and after each. For me, the effects and side effects were out of proportion, so we decided to slowly lower the drug, which gave me even more side effects and withdrawal symptoms and was barely able to keep my eyes open for panic attacks, anxiety and nights of sleep. The stuff just scared me.

    Gabapentin for Nerve damage

After initially improving post-dose pain, a steady increase in the dose was required, with the result that the side effects became serious and I am now considering withdrawing the drug. Nw with me: constant tiredness and listlessness, depressed mood, violently itchy hands and soles, blisters in the mouth, gaining weight, nightmares after a very delayed falling asleep.

    Gabapentin for Shingles; Pain (acute)

My mother-in-law got the shingles in Janur 09. She got prescribed in hospital, because of the pain, Gabapentin. A few days later she had to vomit a lot, had constipation, itching, tiredness … so she felt really bad. Gradually she began to shiver, the nerves were almost damaged and had no strength in the legs. In between, she also began to tell things that happened 20 years ago or not at all. we were shocked she felt really bad, she could not hold a glass anymore. Could not walk anymore and no longer think clearly and has increased a lot. After all the examinations in the hospital, the doctors could not find anything, then we dropped gabapentin, and immediately my mother-in-law was much better and she complains of nothing. So we had a very bad experience with gabapentin.

    Gabapentin for Shingles; Neuralgia

In the first 3 weeks: drowsiness, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, listlessness, weakness, hardly any strength left to go out, sociophobic attacks, depression, indifference, lack of concentration / memory disorders, word finding disorders. However, already after 5 days, an effect already occurred! After the first 3 weeks to date – Depressive phases, weight gain, aggression / irritability (threshold is very low), loss of libido, difficulty concentrating, word finding disorders. I’ve been taking gabapentin for 8 months now and it really helped alleviate my nervous pain! They are not completely gone, but really only discreetly there. Unfortunately, I’ve gained 5 kg, you have to pay attention to go to the sport and should omit chocolate / chips and sweets. I took 1200 – 1500 mg. Recently, I reduced to 500 mg and was able to lose 4 kg with sports and healthy diet again. I am currently switching to Lyrica, which helps me even better against the nerve pain. With Lyrica I am completely painless.

    Gabapentin for Phantom pain

Although I am painless with gabapentin, I notice more and more side effects, i.a. – strong weight gain – thought disorders, concentration disorders – sleep disorders – tachycardia – ear noises – water retention throughout the body (heart and kidneys are without findings). I have stopped taking tramadol after just over a year. I suffered the associated withdrawal symptoms.
