    Prednisolone for Ulcerative colitis

In March of this year, I found a left-sided CU. My iron supply was almost completely used up and my blood value was 5.8! Initially, I received 40 mg cortisone and 3 mg mesalazine (salofalk), iron tablets (ferro sanol) and a blood transfusion at the hospital. Later, vitamin supplements (ideos and calcium) were added to prevent osteoporosis. My doctor wanted to creep cortisone secretly, I would now (in August) actually at 2.5 mg, but have been a few weeks, unfortunately, a boost. Cortison helps in high doses … I’ve already got the mesalazine on suspicion a year ago, alone it only helped me two weeks back then. Unfortunately, my cortisone increased my weight significantly (from 58 to 75 kg!), Especially on my stomach, hips and thighs. Due to the fast weight gain, my skin is at o.g. Strongly torn. I also got a moon face. At first I had severe pain in the left half of my body, so I could hardly breathe and I was ALWAYS hungry !!! I got broom tears on my lower legs. Of the iron tablets in the morning is always bad and I get a belly and constipation. Tomorrow I have a doctor’s appointment, let’s see …

    Prednisolone for Ulcerative colitis

I have to take prednisolone since January due to the disease Ulcerative colitis. At the beginning I took 50mg and for 2 weeks I am only 30mg. I somehow got all the pallets of side effects. Side effects: Extreme knee pain Cold sweat during the night Hot flushes during the day No more feeling of satiety At night I can not sleep through completely restless and have the feeling after 3 hours sleep I had slept 10 hours and I’m already in bed again at 19 o’clock. Circulatory problems (shaky hands and blurred vision) I often feel like I’m not breathing in enough to get enough heartbeat I think that’s a lot of side effects and I’m so happy if I do not have to take this medicine anymore!

strong weight gain (weight has more than doubled!). Full moon face, double chin, sweats, insomnia, nausea, heartburn, nervousness, joint pain (bones and tendons are porous). Muscle aches. Eye pain (pressure pain). Several teeth lost (are simply crumbled – not because of caries.) Dental implants are due to partly deficient bone substance not settable.Hair loss water retention of some 1-3 kilograms overnight! Depressed moods. Fortunately, I have found a doctor, which brings me out of the cortisone cerebral circulation.Cortisone should, based on my experience for my terms, not be taken for more than 1-2 years.

    Prednisolone for Ulcerative colitis

I had to take cortisone twice. Both times came side effects. Joint pain, nausea, sleep disturbances, tachycardia, sexual aversion, bad mood, pimples, ladybeard, soft, thin skin and after about 3 weeks the full moon face began to grow. It helps in the acute episode, 60-40 mg. When weaning complaints are stronger again.

    Prednisolone for Ulcerative colitis

To cortisone in general, one can only say: really only take if there is no other way! Although it helped me well against my thrusts / inflammation of the colitis, but the side effects can be quite severe. Among other things, very strong sweating, the sleep is often disturbed, it can lead to Aufschwämmung / water retention and last but not least, it has now caused me with osteoporosis, so degradation of bone density and cartilage / intervertebral discs / joints. Price / performance ratio I can not judge, because I get the cortisone on prescription and do not know how much it costs.

    Prednisolone for Ulcerative colitis

This drug was the worst thing that ever happened to me. It had more side effects than effect and I’m not really that sensitive. I had depression of it and not just a bit but with suicidal thoughts, dizziness, heart rate, high blood pressure, sleep disorders, sweats, I have 7 kilos in a very short time, had acne and this typical moon face. and then you have to crawl this shit stuff still step by step and can not settle it, very big shit-the colitis symptoms are then in addition to the side effects additionally there!
